Wise words from a wise man,
By
This review is from: Strengthening Your Grip (Paperback)
For good, down-to-earth advice about the practicalities of living a life that honours God, Chuck's writings can't be beaten. He addresses a number of relevant issues, such as finances, sexual purity, and prayer, in a way that reflects on the teaching of the Bible as well as the wisdom gained through his wealth of Christian experience.

Another Excellent Title by Swindoll!,
By Michael Taylor "Michael Taylor" (Indian Trail NC) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Strengthening Your Grip (Paperback)
Originally I bought this book soon after publication in the early 1980s and just recently read it again. Swindoll's wisdom and advice are just as relevant today as they were for the 1980s.Each chapter focuses on applying Scripture to a particular topic, specifically: priorities, involvement, encouragement, purity, money, integrity, discipleship, aging, prayer, leisure, missions, godliness, attitudes, evangelism, authority, and family. Among the important points covered include: 1. No matter what the world says, personal purity is important. 2. Contentment is possible when we stop striving for more. 3. Examples of integrity in Daniel's life. 4. True discipleship requires a high level of commitment that many are not willing to pay. 5. Instead of adopting negative worldly attitudes towards aging, live each day fully for God's glory. 6. Jesus' statements on prayer. 7. Excellent notes on the importance of leisure. 8. 5 principles of how God works in us for His mission. 9. You can either hand your circumstances over to God or try to deal with them in the flesh. 10. 4 hindrances to evangelism and 6 guidelines in witnessing. As mentioned before, while the book was written for the 1980s, the title is just as relevant today. Read, enjoy, and be challenged! Highly recommended.
