Product Description

Stress Crack Tape 50 is a Fifty foot long roll of 2" wide Stress Crack Tape. It is designed to repair stress cracks, as well as work on drywall joints. For stress cracks you simply need to wipe off the damaged area, make sure that nothing is protruding, peel off the backing while applying the Stress Crack Tape at the same time, pressing outside of the damaged area, cut to size, then paint. For a perfect match to your wall surface, you can skim the edges or texture. For use on joints, you simply need to apply over the joint, then skim the edges with joint compound. No more need to apply large amounts of joint compound prior to taping. The feathered edges of this product helps the patches blend into the surrounding wall surface. Stress Crack Tape is designed to repair cracks in drywall, or plaster walls. It will also assist with painting over paneling, as you can run the tape over the groves prior to painting. The tape product can simply be cut to your desired length, applied to the walls, then painted over directly. For a perfect match you can skim the edges of the tape. Works on wall & ceilings, as well as inside, and outside corners.

The stress tape did not always do as advertised. It crinkled up when left for 3 weeks. Some joins were good ; some terrible. One had a large bubble develop that looks like you painted over wall paper. Edges still need to be floated to hide them. I would not use it again and must repair that bubble.

we were soooo happy we found this stuff again. we used it in a home in georgia that had a stress crack in the ceiling of the garage after spackling, painting, spackling and painting. once we used this tape and painted, we never had to repair that crack again. wonderful stuff!!!

The catch with this tape is that it has to be an orange peel wall and you have to cover the tape with a pretty thick coating of orange peel -- otherwise the tape is visible when you paint. Orange peel is expensive and hard to spray without messing up, so you should keep that in mind. I don't know if this would be a great solution for a smooth wall. You might be able to cover it with spackle but it would be a challenge.

I don't know about long term durability. The idea of a stretchable tape is a good thing to prevent cracks from reappearing. But it will take years to do that test.

this is the worst product ever. they say the tape will blend right into the wall but it completely does not, its very obvious that there is tape on the wall, even after using Orange Peel texture spray and painting. I found success using a $3 Plaster Pencil at menards and painting. i'm so mad i wasted a day trying this stupid tape. DO NOT BUY!!

i do a lot of sheetrock repairs as part of my home repair business. And I'm faced with lots of cracks. The fact that this product is very thin, yet strong, and self adhesive makes it a time saving addition to my repair box. But if you want a nice finish, you absolutely need to put a thin spackle coat over the edges and later sand lightly. I'm very fussy about my repairs. I don't want to be able to find them afterward. this tape is the easiest solution. Plain drywall tape or fiberglass mesh both have their drawbacks for this kind of repair and require multiple coats and more sanding. The crack tape here is not magic, but it does a good job and saves extra coats of spackle and more extensive feathering.

Get this on your shelf in your storeroom. I am in hospitality (1500 rooms, 7 restaurants, 4 ballrooms, meeting rooms) where everything is NOW! Ceiling leak, patch for NOW until the leak source is identified and a proper patch/repair is scheduled. Tape a crack, flaw in the drywall; whatever you feel you may be able to use this on. I highly recommend "Stress Crack Tape" and the patch repair kit (hard to find the kit).
I have brought the "tape" to 2 of my paint suppliers - one a paint store (well known brand) and one is a hardware store (supplies anothe well known paint brand). They have stated they are excited to have it on their shelf.
I was a painter/contractor for many many years and am now in the hotel business.
Awesome product...ask my painters..... el

Purchased this product about six months ago. Used it on 3 diferrent occassions, first time stuck like a champ, 2nd time did not want to stick, and now the third time its not sticking again. On the first application the repair looked okay but a crease/wrinkle appeared after a few months. I do not think I would reccomend this to my friends

This product does not work. It is still visible when painting over it. I followed all the instructions and I do not see why it does it does not work they claim it does. I would have been better off spackling the old fashioned way instead of wasting my money on this product. I was hopeful, however after using this product I feel helpless.
