Book Description

January 1, 1997
Although there are many books about stress, this one is written specifically for lawyers. It outlines the reasons that law is one of the most stressful professions and presents self-help methods that are particularly appropriate for attorneys. Even the busiest of lawyers find it easy and useful to read.

When you practice law, stress comes with the territory. Such stressors as time pressures, competition and conflict can rob you of a satisfying career and fulfilling personal life. However, you don't have to suffer in silence. You can take action and this book shows you how.

Review

"The best feature of this volume is the logical, step-by-step analysis which the author uses to determine what causes stress, the impact that stress has upon our bodies and emotions, and how to react in a positive manner to stressors in our lives." -- John Brendon Gately, Law Practice Management Magazine

"When it comes to studying the high stress lives of America's lawyers, Amiram Elwork wrote the book. Literally." -- Mark Hyman, The Baltimore Sun

5.0 out of 5 stars Still great after all these years!, December 2, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Stress Management for Lawyers: How to Increase Personal & Professional Satisfaction in the Law (Paperback)
Even though this book was published in 1997, it is still very timely. After all, the type of stress that lawyers endure hasn't changed and neither have the techniques used to overcome it. I recently re-read it and gave it to a friend (another lawyer) to read- both of us were very glad that we did. It's the kind of book you read every time life seems overwhelming and too complex. The book simplifies things. It helps you understand precisely why you are stressed out and what you can do about it. It is easy to read, very practical and at the same time very profound.

Lawyers are under tremendous pressure to satisfy their clients and make a living. This easy to read book provides practical advice in an inspiring way. I wish I would have read this book during the first year of law school. It would have helped me better handle tough situations.

Lawyers need all the help that's available. This book is a strong step in the right direction. The many helpful areas included how to both avoid and deal with stressful situations. It was easy to read and contained valuable stress lowering and self esteem raising techniques.
