Excellent training guide for practical stress- and life-management., September 27, 2011
This review is from: Stress Skills for Turbulent Times (Audio Cassette)
I searched for this item after enjoying a different Roger Mellott program (Stress Management for Professionals).
Mellott's approach is different from any of the other stress programs I've encountered. First, his communication
style is vivid, capturing the attention and promoting retention. Second, he positions stress management as an
overall life skill, noting that, for example, no amount of stress skills will help us feel good after, say, a death
in the family; but, it is realistic to learn how to function even when conditions are bad.
This program overlaps about 50% with Stress Management for Professionals; for material of this kind, some
repetition is beneficial.
Also, I'd specifically point out that while the program is marketed as specifically oriented to women, I found
98% of the content perfectly relevant to men. Indeed, a sidebar in the beginning of the program (where Roger
explains why he is presenting, rather than a female!) notes that the packaging as a specific women's program
was selected to promote sales, rather than to limit the applicability of the content.

Best tape series EVER, March 18, 2011
This review is from: Stress Skills for Turbulent Times (Audio Cassette)
This set of tapes changed my life 20 years ago. Roger is the farthest you can get from the average bland, boring, drone-like speaker. He is so full of energy and expression he will definitely NOT put you to sleep. I don't even remember the event I bought these at, but the tapes were totally worth whatever price that day cost me.
The vernacular Roger uses is fun so it sticks in your head. His boundless energy and positive attitude are completely uplifting while you're listening, and the tools he offers are easy to remember and will change the way you think when dealing with difficult people (professional leg lifters) and stressful situations (turbulence). The seminar is supposedly written for women, but men will absolutely relate to his teachings as well.
If you're having trouble with individuals at work that seem to always make you upset, or if you've got a lot of stress in your life and you're not sure how to sort it out to where it's manageable, or if you just want a good laugh and you get a few new ideas in your head that help you be a happier, more positive person - get this tape series. I wish they would release it again on CD (although I've already transferred it for my own use to the computer.)
This is one of those purchases I have NEVER regretted.
