5.0 out of 5 stars One Woman's Opinion, August 8, 2001

This review is from: De-Stress, Weigh Less: A Six-Step No-Diet Plan For Relaxing Your Way To Permanent Weight Loss (Mass Market Paperback)
What a lot of information is packed into this very compact book! Drs. Paul J. Rosch and Carolyn Chambers.Clark skillfully reduce their vast fund of well-annotated knowledge into easy to understand laymens' language, making personal application a breeze. It covers many topics related to stress and it's result upon your body and then follows up with what techniques one might employ to deal with specific problems, especially those that trigger destructive behavior , for example, binge eating.

It also includes constructive, practical advice on healthy eating and various forms of exercising. All easy to follow and easy to do., including the recipes. Do try the "All week-long tomato sauce".

A personal favorite chapter is the one that includes time management, especially the part that says:"Always put yourself first and everything else second If you don't you'll be too stressed to add value to anyone's life. Nurture yourself first and you'll have plenty to give to others." A positively revolutionary thought to me.

Really enjoyed this book.. It has truly inspired me to work on becoming my own 'Success Story'.

5.0 out of 5 stars DE-STRESS, WEIGH LESS is great!, July 31, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: De-Stress, Weigh Less: A Six-Step No-Diet Plan For Relaxing Your Way To Permanent Weight Loss (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a total program for losing weight and keeping it off that can really work! The best parts of the book were the Food-Stress Diary, the Take Control of Binge Eating Checklist, How to Dialogue with Food, You Are in Control, and Stress Reducers that Can Prevent Binge Eating. I didn't know there were some ways to excercise that could lower my stress or that some foods and vitamins could help me stay calmer. Before I read this book, I didn't realize that when I was stressed I ate more or that dieting is stressful and can be downright harmful. Because of this book, I started using the ideas for how to stop from getting down on myself for what I weigh. There's lots of good stuff in this book for everybody, even if you don't want to lose weight, it has good ideas.

5.0 out of 5 stars The stress connection with weight loss, September 11, 2005
This review is from: De-Stress, Weigh Less: A Six-Step No-Diet Plan For Relaxing Your Way To Permanent Weight Loss (Mass Market Paperback)
De-stress, weigh less is a well organized compacted book with all the data one needs to know for staying fit and noting which foods cause stress and weight gain.

I liked having the checklists handy, which foods reduce the stress of boredom, weekly goals, the recipes and the tomato sauce for a week and the exercise data showing the symptoms of too much exercise.

For me the best aspect of De-stress, Weigh less is having the exact listing for which foods are vitamin rich along with the deficiency symptoms.

Usually when reading a book that states you need more protein or Vitamin B, for example, you will not get examples of what this is. I liked having this data listed so I could make adjustments in my diet.

The book covers MSG, eggs, sweeteners, binge eating, time management, allergies, food sensitivities and much more in six steps to follow.

I already eliminated Aspartame from my diet and liked seeing the list of what types of items this can be found in. The book also touched on the confusion between assertive and aggressive - an issue I have faced many times in deciphering the two meanings.

There is a food seduction test in step two. The index is extensive and covers every aspect for this no-diet plan to permanent weight loss.
