5.0 out of 5 stars No need to read the whole book at once July 22, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I confess it - I've only read two of the tips so far. But the first one was enough to tell me that this book is worth the read, especially given that it's free for kindle.

I got the book more out of curiosity than real need, but it's already clear to me that it has some great positives. It's well laid out, with an active TOC and links back to the TOC from each idea/chapter, so it's easy to navigate just to the tips you think will help you most. I jumped straight to the tip on dealing with procrastination, that being a huge issue for me, and it gave me a very workable way of hurdling the procrastination barrier. I was keen to put that into practice straight away, but stopped to read the next idea, which is for all those people who spend time agonising over "where are my keys?" "did I switch the iron off?" and so on. A lovely quote from that section: "Not surprisingly, you can't retrieve memories of today because your mind was actually living in tomorrow." I enjoyed the wry observation even though I didn't really get anything new from the chapter, having recently finished "Moonwalking with Einstein", which addresses memory issues in much more depth.

Don't give yourself extra stress trying to absorb the whole book at once. Just take one idea at a time, and begin with the ones you think you most need.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent July 26, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is one of the few free books I've downloaded that I wouldn't have been sorry to pay for; in fact, I hope the author will find a way to make some money from it.

It is very well-written and full of creative, positive suggestions for ways to create sanctuary and lower stress.

It lends itself well to reading a little bit at a time--I have it on my iPod touch and have been reading it at odd moments, waiting in line somewhere etc.

I'm really enjoying it and getting a lot from it.

4.0 out of 5 stars stress proof your life May 14, 2009
Format:Paperback
the book arrived at the end of a very busy, unusual and disjointed week and I was so relieved to see it that I read it cover to cover after hiding myself away from the madness surrounding me. I am now rereading it slowly and taking it in. Great book and if you learn 2 things from it you are on the way to destressing your life

1.0 out of 5 stars Maybe it's a cultural thing? August 2, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I thought this might be a helpful book for a busy professional, plus it was free so I gave it a chance.

The writing was unprofessional and sort of magazine style "jokey." Like this author is trying to sell her ideas to a young, inattentive audience - who I might add - wouldn't be stressed enough as young teens to need a book on de-stressing. That was kind of irritating right off the bat. How can I take savvy advice from a person who writes like this?

The tips also seemed very contrived. One tip was to take a bath.....

I mean, c'mon. I think it's pretty much common sense that nice bath will relax anyone. She also writes that you should delegate a majority of your tasks. I don't know about all of you, but I don't have an army of people waiting in the wings to do all my work for me.

I chalk it up to a cultural disconnect here.

1.0 out of 5 stars Warning - New Age August 29, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you are not into all the New Age spiritual designer accoutrement, this book is definitely not for you. I was totally turned off by all the psychic this, yoga that, essential oils, visualizations, etc. I just finished the book less than 20 minutes ago and can not tell you a single "brilliant idea" listed in it. Glad it was free or I'd be mourning the loss of my money.

1.0 out of 5 stars I deleted it from my bookshelf. August 22, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was free, but I wouldn't waste my time reading it. I struggled through the first ten pages, then flicked through the book to see if it had anything worthwhile in it, then deleted it. It's so badly written and set out that it makes it frustrating to read, combine that with the fact that it seems to have no useful or different information and is just very basic common sense, and you can see that reading it is a waste of your time.

1.0 out of 5 stars GLAD IT WAS FREE August 3, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Glad this book was free- most of it was common knowledge things that most of you already do in life. I blew through it in about an hour and really did not learn anything new.

4.0 out of 5 stars Typos July 24, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The book gives advice on housekeeping to "the sluts and the perfectionists". Whereas, at the beginning of the chapter, it was discussing slobs and perfectionists. Assuming "sluts" is not British slang for "slobs", this Kindle edition has some severe typos. This is my first Kindle book on my IPOD touch. I like the format so far, but am concerned that the editing is sub-par.
