4.0 out of 5 stars Great Charleston Music
This CD is meant for dancing the Charleston, but it is fine listening. Most of the songs are instrumental, but those sung are sung in French (this is the "French Charleston Orchestra," after all). Because the band is small (I would guess 5 to 7 members at most), they do not do as good a job on the actual song titled, The Charleston" (which needs a larger...

2.0 out of 5 stars Terrific, if you want Parisien-style Charleston
I purchased this thinking it would have a lot of great, old-time 1920's Charleston-like jazz. It is jazzy, but in a French-style "reprise". There are songs that are sung, but they are sung in French. 4.0 out of 5 stars Great Charleston Music, December 7, 2002
This review is from: Strictly Dancing: Charleston (Audio CD)
This CD is meant for dancing the Charleston, but it is fine listening. Most of the songs are instrumental, but those sung are sung in French (this is the "French Charleston Orchestra," after all). Because the band is small (I would guess 5 to 7 members at most), they do not do as good a job on the actual song titled, The Charleston" (which needs a larger band), but the other numbers are quite well done.

Tres Moutarde and Japanese Sandman are especially well done. This is a good CD.

Although not as "hot" as many of the other CD's I have reviewed, this one is perfected for dance timing, unlike CD's that are more or less for mere listening. But as a listener, I am not disappointed. Although previous reviewers were not as satisfied as I was, I disagree with their ratings. There are some better 20's eras CD remakes (click on my name to see my reviews), but this is still worth having. And if you dance the Charleston, this is the best.

The CD Title is "Back to the Charleston". I t dosen't even have the charleston on the free listening! This is an OUTRAGE! I give this CD a 1. Even though I like the charleston.
