5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty funny...
Funny little movie. It had just enough weird and entertaining parts to keep me going throughout, which is all I can ask for in a comedy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Might give you a laugh, one or two fun cameo appearances
Did not have any expectations and I was actually more surprised by the supporting roles and cameos than anything else.

We have a rags to riches story via the pro bowling circuit as told by a tightly knit threesome of friends out of LA. The strongest point of this whole film would be the friendship between the leads, but the writing tanked even that strength...

Did not have any expectations and I was actually more surprised by the supporting roles and cameos than anything else.

We have a rags to riches story via the pro bowling circuit as told by a tightly knit threesome of friends out of LA. The strongest point of this whole film would be the friendship between the leads, but the writing tanked even that strength later. Tara Reid plays the love interest, and sadly enough, people would cringe every time she was on the screen (not believable and not funny). It is corny throughout, but you can tell most people were giving it a solid try.

Vinnie Jones has a one scene appearance playing his over-the-top psycho bowler. Ray Wise (showcased way better in the Reaper series) has a few fatherly scenes, the Revenge of the Nerds Carradine has a brief but twisted role, and a few sets of gratuitous fake boobs make their appearances. Yes, this is the film Tara Reid's brother directs (ripe with plenty of dope) starring the Big P from Sopranos, the infamous Rachel Hunter and the always busy Robyn Lively.

The DVD picture and sound quality are fine, the supplemental five minute feature is more like a bad music video and the cover art has nothing to do with the film (nor is she in it). Not a recommendation but gave it the few stars for the few stars in it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Oh so so so bad, August 28, 2009
This review is from: Strike (DVD)
Strike is nowhere near bad enough to be really funny. Sadly, this film is just bad and not terribly funny. The acting so sad.

Two loser / slacker actor wannabes work in a pizza delivery restaurant, Oscarz Pizza. Ha ha, get it, Oscar, as in the Academy Award Oscar. When they deliver pizzas, they deliver the award and the recipient gives an acceptance speach. Yeah, its as funny as the real thing, nowhere even close to funny. Tara Reid is the girlfriend or wife (that's not clear at all) of one of these slackers. And one night slackers number one has the idea to go bowling. Slacker number 2 is apparently very good at bowling, but who knew? By random chance, a Professional Bowling Association person is in the alley; and invites Slacker number 2 to join the tour. Yes it is hilarious. The three decide to go on the PBA tour, but first he has to bowl 36 league rated games and average over 240. Oh the devil to do that in one week. He has to blend in with the leagues he's bowling in. Old people, in da hood hispanics and african americans...oh so funny. The real laughs begin when they make it to the tour. I just don't want to spoil the funny moments by describing what miraculously happens.

There are many reasons to think this might be a movie worth watching. Parody of the PBA. Tara Reid is in the movie. You are a Ross Patterson or Clayne Crawford fan. There's some odd cameos. Or you liked the cover art and thought this might be a spring break, summer drive in, kind of movie. Well it is absolutely none of those things. Nope on the PBA parody, Tara Reid is not in it that much, I'm sorry if you are a Ross or Clayne fan, and there's virtually no jiggle in this movie (that cover art is never recreated anywhere in the film - although the actress holding those bowling balls has a fairly minor part at the end of the film).

There isn't much to recommend this film. All the acting is bad. The jokes get set up and then there's no punch line; or the joke keeps going long after the punch line. There's no jiggle factor. The bowling segments are awful.

Pass on this stinker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exquisite!, September 17, 2010
This review is from: Strike (DVD)
Loved this film. Loved all the characters. Loved the bowling scenes. Loved the scenes without bowling. Now me, I have never "bowled" you see, but after watching this film I went "bowling" for the first time in my life. I took my step-daughter, we shared a glass of beer, "bowled", then ran away together to Barbados. It was all thanks to this film. Ross Patterson and Clayne Crawford were amazing together. All I can say is thank you for this film.
