A Guitar Master,
By A Customer
This review is from: String Fever (Audio CD)
A fansastic album by a guitarist who could do it all. His mastery of the styles he chose to study was unsurpassed. Listen to his beautiful orchestrations of these tunes. And while his solos are impecable, don't forget to pay close attention when he isn't playing a solo. His backup of the other musicians is superb. My favorite. BR

guitar goodness,

To anyone who gives this less than five stars I dare you to play it better.
This is a masterpiece of playing equal to joe pass or kenny burrell.

Still a great album!,

I still have the original LP on vinyl. When I was in 7th and 8th grade I would play this record on a portable Phono while doing my homework. Too bad the needle went bad and ruined my favorite track "Body and Soul" He had a great chordal line near the end of this that only he could do justice. Listen to this album caused me to study Jazz Solo Guitar, otherwise known as Chord Melody Style, which I still play and practice 'till this day. Much can be learn in the treatment of a melody line by listening to his approach. He would play many times with another Jazz great Mundell Lowe ( who I had the pleasure of hearing perform in person) at a bar just 15 ft away from me. Wish I could have caught Chuck live. Both of these guys were great players and real gentlemen. If any of these great players ever perform locally live you should make it a point to hear them. It will be an event you will never forget sine each time they play it is an unique presentation - never the same twice. Unlike Rock Stars they play "in the moment" which is created by the audience around them.
