Let’s not use that dirty phrase. "Side project." That would be a particularly inappropriate description of Stone Sour. Despite featuring Corey Taylor and James Root, Stone Sour exists outside of Slipknot’s immense shadow. While decidedly metal, Stone Sour performs songs drenched in melodies and emotion. Guitars chug, the rhythm pulsates, and Corey works with material that captures his true vocal range. Stone Sour is a band unto itself. They are a monolith.
