5.0 out of 5 stars a great tribute to a great band
Anne Clarke doesn't know what she is talking about. This tribute album is a must buy for anyone who is a fan of The White Stripes. The attention to detail that the performers captured is amazing and I could literally sing along with the songs even though there were no vocals. Overall I would fully recomend this to anyone who enjoys The White Stripes. This a wonderful...

3.0 out of 5 stars I like it, I like it.
In spite of my age, 78 years, I find my CD of the White Stripes music played by a string quartet growing on me each time I play it. I think the quality of the strings is not good, a pity.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad..., June 9, 2006
This review is from: The String Quartet Tribute to The White Stripes (Audio CD)
I picked this up at the record store because I thought it was too weird not to. I've always loved the White Stripes, and I was curious to see what a string quartet could do with their music. Contrary to my expectations, I found the songs to be really cool. I suppose it speaks more for Jack White's brilliant songwriting ability than the actual musicians, but if you are a White Stripes fan you might be surprized with this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, February 18, 2006

Of the five String Quartet Tribute albums that I have bought, this is by far the weakest, despite the involvement of Tom Tally, whose Coldplay string tribute tracks are far superior to the ones found on this album. The melodies seem particularly discordant in places, and I can't help but wish that I'd bought a different string quartet album, or even perhaps the bluegrass tribute.

3.0 out of 5 stars You must appreciate the strings for this., October 26, 2003

Since I am a fan of the White Stripes, I can only feel honored for Meg and Jack that a String Quartet would want to pay tribute to them. I'm buying this because I am such a White Stripes fan, and I enjoy the sounds of string instruments. I also feel this would be a good addition to my White Stripes Collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars White Stripes Rock!, November 22, 2005
This review is from: The String Quartet Tribute to The White Stripes (Audio CD)
I really like the White Stripes. Their music is alive and kicking, unlike so much over-rehearsed, technologically drowned-out, re-mixed, so-called music these days. This tribute album has the White Stripes musical quality, regardless if it sounds like it is played by a high-school-level string quartet. Heck, the White Stripes sound like a garage-band to me. In either case, the artists make the music sound reachable, as though I could pick up a guitar and play along. This is a quality I look for in music.

1.0 out of 5 stars the sound of muzak, February 18, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The String Quartet Tribute to The White Stripes (Audio CD)
Why is it an honour to be covered by A String Quartet? Anyone can call themselves a string quartet provided they've got four people in one spot holding stringed-instruments. This is White Stripes elevator muzak. If you think simply giving something a 'classical' string treatment affords low-brow rock with some kind of high-brow prestige you don't really love or understand music at all, and you're buying into a bogus notion of orthodoxy. On the other hand, if you're a large business who plans to keep callers on hold for hours on end, buy this now. It'll make a nice change from Vivaldi.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible tribute.. Don't waste your money., October 23, 2003

Picked this up, being the ravenous White Stripes fan that I am, only to be dissapointed with an embarassing, underwhelming bastardization of not only the music of The White Stripes, but of string instruments in general. Do not waste your money on this tripe, or any of these other string tributes to your favorite bands' songs, as they are all garbagee... unless of course, you have no taste, and you actually enjoy hearing your favorite songs being ripped apart by pretentious third-rate string instrument musicians.

Thank you, and goodnight.
