The Germans at MD&G have issued another fine disc of rare art: this time by the little-known fin-de-siecle Belgian composer G. Lekeu--pupil of Franck and D'Indy of the Franco-Belgian school of late-Romantic [i.e., Wagnerian] chamber music.This disc features his Piano Quartet of two large movements; a large Adagio for String Quartet; and a full String Quartet proper. The music is rich, Decadent, febrile, and exquisite. |
