I live in an appartment so don't like to poke too many hole on the wall to hang stuff. I love this Sting Swing Music stand holder. It is very sturdy and safe to tighten onto the music stand (I recommend finger tight and leave the plastic over on the screw). 3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite
This is a good concept and works on my stand at home, however, I would love to see a design change that would allow for the space where it slips onto the stand shelf be adjustable, so it can slip onto wider shelved stands... does not work on my Peak portable stand, which is why I bought it... other than that its a good product....

You can take it with you to orchestra practiceand hang your violin during break, but it would be hard to turn pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly as advertised..., November 2, 2010

I ordered this handy item to attach to a Manhasset music stand and it works wonderfully. The violin hangs on the heel of the pegbox-not the tuning pegs. It has a small projection for hanging up the bow, very nice to have. Would recommend this highly.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good try but not very smart, September 9, 2011
It's quite sturdy and the idea of hanging a violin at the music stand is good.

But this hanger is sticking out too much so it doesn't look very safe.(It stick out much longer than it looks in the photo. Imagine you have 12cm branch on your music stand sticking out.)

Especially if you are a music teacher who gets little kids around the music stand it could cause some serious troubles.

The second issue is...

because of the shape of this hanger my little students are tempted to push it down and eventually my music stand has become a little bended and it looks ugly..

If they could make it go under the shelf of the music stand but still hanging on the shelf, then it won't come out too much to the front and also it won't be on the way of looking at the music scores on the stand.(I was gonna put my violin on the hanger while I stop playing with my students in the middle of teaching. )

Another thing is...

the way they made it to attach to the music stand shelf is not very smart.

It always makes marks wherever it is placed.

I am using Manhasset standard music stand.

After I moved around the hanger to find right spot, I realised it already made scratches and bended marks too.

If you see inside of the cubic part it looks easily bending the shelf of the stand depending on the stand.

The rail holes are in the middle of the cube and when you tighten the bolt it bends the spots where it goes.

Anyway, I am dissapointed and I stopped using it.

* One more, mine looks different to their ad photo, which is annoying.

The joining part between the cube and V-shape is different and it's not matching right.

I like this product. A little leery about leaving my violin handy, but use it for the bow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Professional Looking, July 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It makes any violin player look and feel professional. It makes your instrument easily accessible, safe and secure. Just be careful with the clamp because it has a rough steel surface and might leave a mark on the surface (of your music stand) when you secure it on too tightly.

5.0 out of 5 stars String Swing Music Stand Violin Hanger, June 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The Violin Hanger is a great little device! We have limited space and it is easier to store the violin case vertically, which meant every time my daughter needed to practice, she had to get the case; lay it down; and open it to get the violin. All steps needed repeated to put it away. She actually thought that was the worse part of practicing! With this holder the violin is always available and has increased her playing time - she will just go in a play a song here and there since the violin is always on display and always available.

The only caution I would have would be the placement of the stand. We are fortunate enough to be able to tuck the stand away in a corner and it is never moved and the violin is protected from getting accidentally bumped off the hanger. But if the stand were in a busier part of the house, I can foresee accidents that would knock over the stand or knock the violin off the hanger - a family member; a large dog; or even a toddler could knock the stand over.

But for us, it is perfect!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well with a little adjustment., February 20, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Hooks on stand very easily but the violin always seemed to rest on the bottom tuning peg as you can see in the picture. I don't like the idea of the hanger possibly throwing the violin out of tune so I made a minor adjustment. All I did to solve this was turn the hanger upside down. When you do this it levels the hanger with the floor and the violin sits on the arch at the top of the neck instead of resting on the tuning peg.
