5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Designs, And Packed with Great Inspiration! January 9, 2006
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I find that buying a new jewelry book is like taking a chance on a blind date: sometimes you want to call it a night at 6:00, and other times you want to linger and just totally enjoy the experience you are having...and then relive the whole thing as soon as possible!

I found this book by Jamie Hogsett to be a great date! First of all, for beginning jewelry makers, she has covered all the types of beads, and included photos. I enjoyed this part and learned a few new things, for example: what tools the Karen hill tribe use to make their silver beads. I didn't know how they made their beads! How fascinating!

After that, she covers a variety of things such as types of findings, crimping, and--thank you Jamie!--how to make seed beed loops for button clasps. My former nemesis.

Then come the projects: some cool bracelets, and, more thoroughly covered, a series of breathtakingly photographed and laid out full page bracelets and necklaces in beautiful variety. All with the sources listed, so you can easily access the things you might need to make a necklace or bracelet you find appealing. All with GREAT DIRECTIONS!

Who are you today? You will find yourself in here, I bet. I was attracted to "Purple Power Cuff", and "Botanic Garden" right off the bat, but there are so many lovely winners... and that is just me, for today! I can't WAIT for my next "date" with STRINGING STYLE!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love This Book!!! June 30, 2008
By Stef330
This of one of my few favorite beading books. It has very beautiful designs and excellent craftmanship of the projects. There are so many amazing clasps on each piece (I have a sweet spot for clasps) which really make each piece look so special and refined.

Anyway, very beautiful to look at. If, however you are a beader who needs to see pictures of the little step by step instructions that many books provide, this one does not. It gives clear instruction in text form. But no little diagrams. Otherwise, its a fantastic source for inspiration!

5.0 out of 5 stars Elegant, fun, mostly easy designs May 8, 2008
This, and the follow up book "Stringing Style 2" have some of the most elegant, exciting designs I have seen in beading "how to" books. Good instructions assume you know a little about beading (but not too much, coz I'm faking my way through). Well worth the money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Buy the magazines instead April 24, 2007
By Tassu
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
If you already have the Stringing Style magazines or can get them don't waste your money on this book. The few new projects are not worth the money. Also these are definitely not the best or most original of the jewelry included in the magazines. I'm sorry I bought this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great beading book full of eye candy! June 4, 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Stringing Style by Jamie Hogsett is an older book on my shelf (published in 2005), but some books never go out of style. I have the pleasure of working with Jamie Hogsett on a daily basis. She is the epitome of style and grace. It is no wonder that her first book was a knock out sensation. Some of my favorite projects feature parts and pieces from a number of companies including but not limited to: Green Girl Studios, Zoa Art, David Christenson, Dakota Stones, Harold Williams Cooney, Michael Barley, Paula Radke, Pudgy Beads, Tierra Cast, etc. I could go on an on for days. With so many great beads and Jamie's unlimited talent, this book should be on all jewelry designer's book shelves.

From the back, "We've collected 40 of the most gorgeous ideas from Beadwork magazine's special Stringing issues and put them at your finger-tips in Stringing Style: 50+ Fresh Bead Designs for Jewelry. And for good measure, we've added 10 never-before-seen stringing projects by the talented Beadwork magazine team. Take a peek inside."

In this book you will find:

Complete step-by-step instructions
Easy-to-understand illustrations
Lovely photographs
Stringing 101 includes best way to crimp, add jump rings, clasps, etc...
