5.0 out of 5 stars You'll love it or you'll hate it., November 13, 2003
By A Customer
I love it. This cd is very different. Not just from Adam's other cd's but from anything else I've heard. I'm sure you have all heard "Strip". It still seems to get a lot of airplay on "80's" stations. It's a catchy song for sure. My favorite song on this cd is Navel to Neck. I usually listen to it twice in a row. He was really experimenting here and he was obviously feeling a bit "excited" (if you catch my drift) when he wrote most of these songs. Some sexy stuff on here. Some of the songs are just weird. And they took a few listenings to for me to start to like them. But I really like the lyrics and it is pretty clever song writing. The pictures that come with the cd make a girl VERY HAPPY indeed. Lets face it, most of us ladies (and some guys) started listening to him in the first place because we thought he was hot. But he also happens to be incredibly talented which really shows in this cd. Give it a try. The worst that can happen is you are stuck looking at a picture that shows Adam, literally, Navel to Neck. And what a navel it is. My, my.

5.0 out of 5 stars Naughty But Rather Nice...., October 22, 2005
By Morrighan61 "morrighan61" (San Francisco, CA United States) - See all my reviews
I have always liked Adam and the Ants, and yes, even as a 19 year old I "got" what this album was all about. I like Adam Ant for the same reason I often like Prince, the cheeky bawdy lyrics done with panache...What can I say except Adam Ant brings out the kinkier aspects of my nature?

I have all his CD's but unlike most this one still gets decent play and yes, I do find the entire CD quite captivating.

When I was a teenaged girl, I was often taunted with the nickname "Goody Two Shoes" because I didn't drink, didn't smoke, and so when this one came out? Well, let's just say cranking on my headphones in the in the halls at school between had me smiling rather mysteriously and more than one guy overhearing it taking a second rather speculative look my way, particularly when I traded my jeans and t-shirts for a more "charming" look. (I still have my poet's shirt and pirate's boots, LOL...) Frankly I think "Libertine" came a lot closer to describing the person I was then but....

;)

Morrighan

PS: Yes, there's still a "whip in my valise" and some lucky guy has Adam Ant to thank for that!

5.0 out of 5 stars As someone else already posted, you'll either love this album or hate it (I loved it), August 10, 2005
By Eric Denney (Santa Clarita, California) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I was in my very early teens I think when this album came out, perhaps even younger. We lived in California but my Dad had a place in Colorado that he used to drag me to a couple times a year and I remember listening to this tape over and over on my walkman on the very long drive back and forth. There are very few albums that I like most every song on and this is one of them, even though only a couple of the songs ever made it to the radio, "Strip" was the biggest and "Puss N Boots" got some airtime. By the time tape decks went the way of the Dodo I had forgotten about this album and never got around to replacing it with a CD. But ever since the advent of MP3s I've occasionally looked for songs from this album albeit with little success. I've decided to go ahead and purchase the CD and rip the songs to mp3 since I never actually listen to CDs anymore.

I was surprised to see such negative reviews of this album from a few others, apparently there isn't much middle ground between loving and hating it. To be honest I was never a huge Adam Ant fan and I never owned any of his other albums so I can't say whether or not you'll like it if you own and like some of his other albums. Speaking for myself however, I really enjoyed it, enough that I'm going to buy it for a second time which is very rare.
