5.0 out of 5 stars Stripped to the Bone by Jasmine Stone
Stripped to the Bone has got to be one of the most intelligent erotic books I have ever read! The main character, Annie, while seeming to be a simple person, tosses off philosophical musings on work, sex, relationships and religion, which are quite profound. Those of you who are English majors or just literature fans will delight in Jasmine Stone's free-wheeling use...

2.0 out of 5 stars How very disappointing!
I have been an avid reader of the Black Lace series for several years now, and I was so disappointed with this book. I literally had to force myself to continue reading this book. Normally I am completely engrossed in the books, but this one just didn't hold my attention. The love scenes were rather tepid. Although I believe in making up my own mind as far as reviews...

5.0 out of 5 stars Stripped to the Bone by Jasmine Stone, December 30, 1999
This review is from: Stripped to the Bone (Black Lace) (Mass Market Paperback)
Stripped to the Bone has got to be one of the most intelligent erotic books I have ever read! The main character, Annie, while seeming to be a simple person, tosses off philosophical musings on work, sex, relationships and religion, which are quite profound. Those of you who are English majors or just literature fans will delight in Jasmine Stone's free-wheeling use of Jane Eyre as the backdrop to the novel. Ms. Stone has a great sense of humor, too; I especially appreciated the use (and misuse) of some of literature's finest quotes.

This book is a must read! It has the potential to surpass Anne Rice's pen erotica! It is a well-told tale of love, lust and finding one's way home.

5.0 out of 5 stars FUN, SMART AND VERY SEXY, October 19, 2000
By A Customer

OK - I'm a guy reading a Black Lace book but I really enjoyed this work. I was lucky enough to be at Jasmine's book signing at Border's Book store in San Francisco. She's a very funny (and sexy) woman herself. Back to the book, besides the great sex and clever writing, I found her characters not only convincing but very human, interesting and uncontrived. I especially thought relation between Annie and her sister was touching.

By the way, she read from her next book, it's hilarious.

5.0 out of 5 stars smart and hot, October 1, 2000

My boyfriend and I loved this book! Jasmine Stone has written a funny, intelligent, sensual, and downright hot and exciting erotica novel. Ms. Stone fleshes out her characters in great and masterful detail (not at all common in most novels of this genre), which lends a believability to Annie, the main character's, story, making the sex scenes even hotter than you can imagine. We can't wait for her next book.

4.0 out of 5 stars I liked it..., May 17, 2001

This review is from: Stripped to the Bone (Black Lace) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm a little surprized by the negative reviews. To me, the book was thoughtful and refreshingly different from the usual erotica. I was a little put off by the first chapter but I got into after that. I can't say it was a masterpiece of literature but I don't think there are many erotica novels that would be in that category (the Marquis comes to mind).

Keep up the good work, Jasmine!

5.0 out of 5 stars AN AMAZING NOVEL; THIS ONE IS A MUST!, December 18, 1999
By A Customer

Jasmine Stone does an amazing job of portraying her characters in 'Stripped to the Bone.' Her vivid descriptions of locations and senses make this book one that you can't put down. Jasmine took me on a trip to the other side of the world both sensually and imaginatively. Highly recommended!

Oh my god that was good! Something truly special in a genre that is so cliche--Luscious! Juicy! Cleverly written! I was only disappointed that there wasn't more.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fairly pedestrian as "X" rated goes, February 1, 2002

Slow, not really great as one handed reading goes. Like a lot of books of this genre it has some good parts, but definitely not a "page turner".

Annie seems at first nothing more than a beautiful young girl seeking a little adventure away from her family and conservative sister. She tries her hand at several different jobs and several different boyfriends. Fortunately her stream of consciousness is decidedly not that of a typical romance novel heroine. This weirdness is undoubtedly too much for some of the readers quoted above who expect a more typical heroine and story line.

There is some romance and plenty of sex, but these are but the barest bones of the book. Built on top of this foundation like a lacy gothic cathedral are streams of consciousness wherein Annie speculates and fantasizes and quakes with fear and worries and dreams. It is far more fascinating to peer into Annie's mind than underneath her panties. Her flights of fancy are like brilliant literary jazz improvisations.

Most people are incapable of being honest with themselves, let alone sharing their secret fears, lusts, hopes, obsessions, despair. This book will give you the privilege of peering into a surprisingly spacious mind, where you can roam freely around. It is full of dark caverns and brightly lit meadows, flowers and deserts, glaciers and volcanic eruptions. Annie is not always consistent, but she never withholds from you; she stands completely naked, not just without clothes, but without the usual inhibition against telling the truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stripped to Moan, June 1, 2005
This weird "romance" novel is about steamy, okay, raunchy, fun. Annie is in search of herself, starting by defining herself through her sexual needs. As I live in San Francisco myself, I appreciated the tour through all my favorite locales. The drag queens, the prostitutes, the bars - I know these. I liked the literature references as well. Smart and sexy read.
