Christina's first shot at revealing her musical tastes and lyrical abilities, it's actually pretty well done. Its got some latin (Infatuation), hip hop (Can't Hold Us Down), funk (Underappreciated, Get Mine, Get Yours), soul (Soar, Impossible), and rock (Make Over, Fighter).
High Points: In my opinion the arrangement of the songs is great, it rolls along nice and smooth. Each song has it's own flavor, and could probably suit any mood your in. My favorites are Cruz (inspirational ballad about letting go and accepting what the future has to offer), I'm Okay (hauntingly melodic song, Christina's releasing some childhood demons), and Dirrty (I never thought I'd like this song, but you gotta take it with a grain of salt).
Low Points: The girl can sing, but a lot of times not in a good way. I can't comprehend how she can shout like that (and mind you she does shout a lot), it sounds like she's trying to tear a hole in her throat. And the "oaoaoaoa" moments can go to the point of being comical. Least favorite songs are Make Over (I dig the beat, but her collaboration with Linda Perry kinda blows here), Get Mine, Get Yours (again, I love the beat but the message is wack. Beware of STD's Christina), and Impossible (STOP RUINING THE SONG WITH YOUR SCREAMING!)
In my opinion it's worth a listen and although it may not be a "masterpiece", it's not a piece of sh__t either. Out.
