No Problems Here...,
By
This review is from: Stripperella - Season One - Uncensored (DVD)
I haven't had any problems at all with my two discs. They play just fine and look fine.
My only beef would be the change in the animation & writting after episode 4. It became way to 'cutesy' and less crass. No more exposed breasts get shown, no more truely funny innuendos. I felt like I was watching a saturday morning fluffy cartoon. Now I understand why it got cancelled. Someone screwed with it and screwed it up. It is worth buying for the orginial first 4 episodes tho.

I don't know what happened with the other reviewers, but my DVD's played with no problem and nothing was pixelated out. The only censoring I found was a couple of words were "beeped" out and I think that was part of the script. The series itself was a fun parody of comic characters and sexual innuendo. This isn't a kid's cartoon, but lots of R rated humor for adults.

Funny raunchy cartoon!,

I saw this DVD by chance and it looked so crazy that I just had to check it out. The show turned out to be better than what I expected and less sleazy, with some gratuitous topless stuff at the strip club and rampant bathroom humor throughout the series. It's primarily a superhero/spy spoof, sort of in the style of Austin Powers. Stan Lee developed the show and one of the directors is Kevin Altieri, who worked on Batman: The Animated Series, so there's automatically a certain level of quality brought to the show. The animation and designs are very well done, on par with Batman. The artists also do a great job caricaturing many different types of people. Stripperella herself comes across as a dorky likeable character and is well-acted by Pamela Anderson. The villains are over-the-top parodies of megalomaniacs you see over and over in comic books and James Bond movies. Many characters are funny, like the strip club employees, the siamese twins, and especially the spy agency scientists. The spy chief is whacked out. There is also quite a bit of subtle social satire throughout the show. I did feel that a few of the episodes try a little too hard to be funny and cheesy. But episodes like "Beauty and the Obese" and "The Bridesmaid" are pretty good. It's interesting that the visual design for the series changes about halfway through the season. Overall, I felt that Stripperella's new design (the one you see on the DVD cover) has a bit more character than the original design, although the original one is also quite cool. Like one of the other reviewers, I did notice aliasing (jagged edges) on the images and it was a bit distracting. But if you're into ridiculous offbeat cartoons, it's worth checking out!

Entertaining,

First it's not uncensored, close but not completely, take note of the scene with the chief having pictures of him in his birthday suit in one of the early episodes. A key area is pixilated, being a guy that did not bother me at all but it does say uncensored. They easily could have had an obstruction just as they do whenever Stripperella is topless. Now the cartoons themselves have above average animation, though the episodes seem slightly softer after the first few, this is probably happened when the show went on hiatus in mid-season. The jokes and dialog does tend to be similar from episode to episode, different sexual innuendos but I found them enjoyable. Be warned these are not for the young and should be considered adult only material.

Stan , How could you?,

Innuendo aside, Stan Lee (creator of Spiderman, Daredevil and the Fantastic Four) and Pamela Anderson cheapen themselves in creating Stripperella. This season one show from Spike TV's beginnings was an experiment which failed-it only lasted one season! This one joke wonder is a curse to all SUPERHEROES-STAN HOW COULD YOU?
However Lee and Anderson poked fun at Anderson's image and so called rep of playing dumb blonde characters with hearts of gold. Stripperella was no different, Stripper by night/Superhero by night was the cute tag line for the show. For an adult sexual comedy, it was cute. It has bad jokes blended with bad innuendos...it satire that talked down to even adults. It was a 13 year old type jokes in an R rated cartoon. In my opinion that why the cartoon block that Spike TV started with failed badly> They tried Playboy humor in prime time and failed Is it worth the price? I'd rather see Stacked (see my review, its funnier)....but it is an adult cartoon! (NOT MANY OF THEM!) As in animation , it was better than most stuff out there, but that not say much according to today's standard Bennet Pomerantz AUDIOWORLD

Stripperella- Bringing Cheer to our Brave Marines in Afghanistan!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Stripperella - Season One - Uncensored (DVD)
I got the DVD set for my hubby in Afghanistan because I thought it would cheer him up- boy was I right! Something about a stripper / superhero just brings a smile to the face and twinkle to the eye of a hardened US Marine! He loves that he can still see the art of Stan Lee shine through the series! I have even watched the series (which is how I discovered it would thrill him) and it's vapid yet sexy bubble headed blonde can induce a chuckle even after a hard day of chasing two year olds while your husband is deployed. Who doesn't love to watch a hot blonde chase around evil plastic surgeons while her ta-tas nearly fall out of her little superhero disguise? Priceless!!!

I discovered this show through the Stan Lee reality show, when there was a picture of Stripperella in the background. I knew it was going to be cheesy just from the fact that the lead character is a stripper who fights crime. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I did, but at the same time the show really didn't live up to the amount of expectation that I had for it.
The show sets off to be a parody of the super-hero genre & it's characters, but falls short of that goal at times. I think that's partially why it only lasted about 13 episodes- it never seemed to actually go beyond the initial blue humor of the series. While that was fun at first, the writers just never seemed to do anything that could really flesh out the characters. (I refuse to believe that the skanky IRL "Stripperella" had anything to do with the cancellation.) I mean, there's only so many times you can reuse the same jokes about sex, strippers & such. Even so, the promise in this show really shines through & makes you as "what if...". The premise was novel & the characters' initial premise was intriguing. It just never really seemed to get that one really great blast of energy that shows need to really take off.

Super Duper Stripperella,

I am a huge fan of Pammy Lee/Anderson/Whatever in all her forms. Model, actress, and American Icon. And I feel that "Stripperella" is her greatest gift to the world! Pam is a cartoon so it makes it a no brainer that she teamed up with Stan Lee to create what is one of campiest most fabulous cartoon series ever. I truly believe that Pammy had her gay fans in mind when she dreamed up this one...then snuck "Stripperella" on SPIKE TV (sneaky sneaky)!
In all seriousness Pam gives her best performances on this show. She plays the stripper/superhero part perfectly. And her stance on animal rights is well acted and comes off as sincere. The supporting cast of characters are all hilarious and well voiced. The stories are all well crafted and the villians are dynamite. My one problem with the series is the sudden (and rather dramatic) production switch. The characters and setting were all redesigned with some characters barely resembling their pre-reproduced counterparts. The initial art style was done a la Bruce Timm Batman and swicthed to a more contemporary style mid season. But that's not enough to detract from a great series that deserves to be added to every DVD collection (gay or straight) out there.

Funniest show in a while,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Stripperella - Season One - Uncensored (DVD)
First of all, Let me say I'm not a kid, I'm just too lazy to log in.
With that out of the way, I'm surprised that this show got cancelled. It was very very funny. The jokes were witty and all the sexual innuendoes where hilarious. There were two other shows that appeared in the same block as this on Spike Tv-Gary The Rat and Ren & Stimpy. Gary the Rat was also funny, but the Revival of Ren & Stimpy as an adult show was very stupid. I recommend Stripperella to all people who have a dirty sense of humor and are 15 or older.
