5.0 out of 5 stars Sizzling Design Ideas!
Wonderful resource for stretching your design sense - expand your understanding of the use of value in a quilt and make a stunning traditional design (with sizzling innovation)or an innovative new quilt design which incorporates elements of traditional design. 1.0 out of 5 stars Simple idea S-T-R-E-T-C-H-E-D too far...
The premise of the book is summed up simply if you put contrasting colors together, they...ummm contrast...

Pretty pictures sure but nothing in techniques, or theory that shake the foundation of quilting. There are many other authors who have put more work into color theory, and design whose books would be a better addition to your collection.

I needed this book for a class I was taking. I haven't used it since. I think it would be a great book for those who love working with strip piecing. I found it to be well written and the instructions were easy to follow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, easy, and well written, June 11, 2009
This review is from: Strips That Sizzle "Print on Demand Edition" (That Patchwork Place) (Paperback)
I took this class within days of receiving the book. What a blast. These blocks once made can be turned every way but loose. You wind up with a very striking quilt that looks very complicated but it was so easy...just follow the instructions for a very different quilt.

This review is from: Strips That Sizzle "Print on Demand Edition" (That Patchwork Place) (Paperback)
My quilter friends highly recommended Margaret Miller's "Strips that Sizzle" as a creative book source filled with patterns to use my fabric stash. The local quilt shop informed me that it had been out of print for a while, but I remembered that Amazon.com had found a long lost book from the 1980's for me. I have confidence and trust shopping with Amazon.com, rather than dealing directly with strangers on the internet. Not only was "Strips that Sizzle" found, but the price was low, the condition excellent and delivery expedient. Thanks again Amazon, you are "amazing"!

I have admired quilts made from this book for many years. When I finally decided to order the book, I was somewhat disappointed, but I really don't know why. It's a nice book and the quilts made using this technique are pretty. Kind of a weird review isn't it.
