Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This book describes the medical background behind the various kinds of strokes, the risk factors, the effect on the brain, what can be done immediately and in longer term, like tPA, and the recovery process. It's aimed at the ordinary person, but the brain is complicated and keeping track of the different veins and arteries etc. means it's somewhat demanding reading, at least in parts (I skimmed some). It left me with a far better understanding and a sense that I could understand a specific stroke diagnosis much better. Many useful terms are defined but there were some terms that I couldn't find later, though I'm sure I read them; they weren't indexed or in the glossary.
I don't have other stoke books to compare this to, but this one helped me a great deal.
