The shell of this case is made of what feels like a hard foam...not completely rigid like plastic but not as squishy as some laptop sleeves for example. It is still pliable but it feels like it would surely protect a GPS from a reasonable drop onto a hard surface or from other items banging against it in a glovebox or purse or whatever. When opened there are elastic gussets on either side to prevent the case from opening a full 180 degrees and your GPS falling out; without stretching the elastic it still opens about 45 degrees and leaves enough room to grab the GPS and pull it out. There's a little extra room inside and my GPS can slide back and forth but the interior has a soft fabric so I don't think it will generate a lot of microscratches and dull the glossy black surface that they seem to make all electronics from these days. The clip on wrist strap seems a little flimsy and cheap but I probably won't ever use it anyway.

After ruining my 255W's screen due to my negligence (tossing it in the glove box and shutting the door with everything crammed in there), I knew that I needed to get something to protect my new 1390lmt. This case fits the device perfectly, and while it's not simply some floppy canvas cover, it's also not so solid that it makes it inconvenient to store in my vehicle. This is a must for any GPS user. The quality of this case also appears as though it will probably outlast the GPS unit itself!
