5.0 out of 5 stars Hank William, Jr--Strong Stuff, August 5, 2006
This review is from: Strong Stuff: Original Classic Hits, Vol. 9 (Audio CD)
My husband had this in a cassette as a child and played it until he wore it out. He always talked about how much he loved it when he was [...] and how much he wished he still could play his favorite song "Two Dot Montana". I looked for 2 years to find it EVERYWHERE!! I was so happy to find it here. It's good Hank, and he loves it..so his dream to have his favorite childhood music again came true!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hank , Jr. at the top of his game, October 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Strong Stuff: Original Classic Hits, Vol. 9 (Audio CD)
This album shows Hank Jr. at or near the top of his game. Not only does it feature "Gonna Go Huntin Tonight'" and "Leave Them Boys Alone", but lesser known classics as well- "Two Dot Montana" and "A Whole Lot of Hank"! Very good album.

4.0 out of 5 stars A perfect Southern boy CD,it's a classic, March 2, 2007
This review is from: Strong Stuff: Original Classic Hits, Vol. 9 (Audio CD)
In the early 80's,the hard rock band I was in listened to this during our "personal" time, away from everybody else, just to get our head's all in the right place.
Every song is good,it's classic Hank Jr.,and the ZZ Top and Skynyrd covers are done with reverence. If you like Hank Jr. at all, you gotta have this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong stuff indeed, April 27, 2005
This review is from: Strong Stuff: Original Classic Hits, Vol. 9 (Audio CD)
With two covers of ZZ Top songs (the moody Blue jean blues and the hard-rocking La Grange) and one cover of a Lynyrd Skynyrd song (Made in the shade), Hank delivers one of his finest albums. Gotta go hunting tonight and Leave them boys alone (featuring Ernest Tubb and Waylon Jennings) were the big country hits but they aren't any better than the other tracks here, all of a very high quality.
The first three tracks rock hard. The pace drops after that but the quality doesn't. Particularly worth mentioning are The homecoming queen (a touching song about Hank's love for his woman), Two dot Montana (about some trouble Hank was in - fictitious, I hope) and In the arms of cocaine (about drug addiction).

This is in many ways typical of Hank's albums - many originals with a few well-chosen covers - but there are some great songs here. If you enjoy Hank's music, you'll enjoy this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cozy and Country, August 13, 2008
This review is from: Strong Stuff: Original Classic Hits, Vol. 9 (Audio CD)
This CD has the cutest little song on it: "Leave Them Boys Alone" by Hank Williams, Jr., Waylon Jennings, and Ernest Tubb. All three of these singers are my favorites of my favorites. I can listen to that song over and over.

The cover photo looks like a cozy country house. Who needs a mansion when we can have a cozy country cabin? I'd love to live in something like that.

"Gonna Go Huntin' Tonight" is also one of my favorites on this CD.

Doesn't matter where you drop the needle on this record, it's solid country gold, start to finish.
My favorite track is "Twodot Montana"

5.0 out of 5 stars When people made albums..., February 12, 2011
This review is from: Strong Stuff: Original Classic Hits, Vol. 9 (Audio CD)
There are so many great songs on "Strong Stuff" that it doesn't make any sense to buy singles. The whole record is good. I will review my favorite songs just in case somebody insists on trying them out one by one.

"A Whole Lot Of Hank" is a very country song that's autobiographical of Hank. Try that one first.

"The Girl On The Front Row At Fort Worth" is about a good night at a show.

"The Homecoming Queen" is about Hank's wife at the time, I believe.

"Twodot Montana" is a historical song about a guy who gets in trouble in the west. I like it a lot!

"In The Arms of Cocaine" is simply heart smashing. That song is deadly serious.

Try those out...and being you got that many, you should just try out the whole record. You will not regret it.
