5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding in Every Way, December 22, 2005
By
This review is from: Strong Suspicion (Audio CD)
My husband introduced me to the Blues and to Curtis's music a couple of years ago. I immediately fell in love with both, but it's Curtis that I can listen to any time of day, any day of the year.

Strong Suspicion is a fantastic album. The lyrics are creative and fun to listen to, the songs are funky and original, and Curtis is soulful, funky, ironic, strong, heartfelt, and beautiful, all at the same time.

If you love the Blues mixed with a bit of funk and rock, and you appreciate a great voice, you will love this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blues So Heavy You Might Fall Down, March 9, 2006
This review is from: Strong Suspicion (Audio CD)
If you know the blues, real blues, then you should know Curtis Salgado. I have been following his music for a little over ten years now. I have never known of an artist that has produced quality so consistently.

You should also know that the Blues Brothers was loosely based on Curtis' life. Curtis was also a member of the Robert Cray Band. He is a solid part of the blues and continues to tour providing riveting live shows. Throughout his career he has worked with everyone from BB King to Stevie Ray Vaughn.

This album is a continuation of his art. This album shows an further refining of his style and strength. Within the walls of the album are grooves ranging from gospel (Born All Over) to tongue-in-cheek rockabilly blues (Can't Stop Lovin').

This album swaps styles from song to song, so it never gets repetitive. His lyrics are meaningful, well planned, and flawlessly executed by voice that cuts the air like an axe and strikes like a hammer.

Buy this album now along with ten copies for your friends. Beg, borrow, or steal-it's the real deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing talent!!!, December 25, 2005

In my humble opinion Curtis Salgado is without question the best blues/soul singer alive. He is a modern day "blues belter" with a soulful and sometimes funky edge. Check out tracks "The Sum of Something" and the blues ballad "Help me through the Day" and you will know what I'm talking about. Check out his tour dates on www.curtissalgado.com and see him live. If you are like most people you will be stunned and blown away by his massive talent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Curtis Rocks the Blues!!!, October 16, 2004
This review is from: Strong Suspicion (Audio CD)
I live in Portland OR... which makes me a Curtis home boy... lucky me!!! My wife and I never miss a chance to hear Curtis live, and he exceeds our expectations every time. Just last month we had the privilege to listen to him live at our neighborhood park -- WOW! He ran through most of his new CD "Strong Suspicion" and he was fantastic live. We bought his new CD on the spot, and haven't taken it out of the CD player yet!!! This CD deserves the listeners full attention. The lyrics are thought provoking in some songs and just plain fun in others. A MUST HAVE for any Blues enthusiast!

Enjoy a true blues sensation. Kelly & Lori Yock, Portland OR

One of the two or three best soul singers currently working in the U.S. delivers big time here. For one thing, "Money Must Think I'm Dead" may be the song title of the year. If you want the real thing, go for the best and later for the rest.

SOLID!! We have been eagerly anticipating this release and love every song. From the title track to the cover of the Beatles' I'll Be Back, these longtime fans of the artist could not be more pleased. We recommend this album highly. Lastly, our dogs enjoyed the harmonica solo at the end.

I got to see Curtis live at the Blues, Brews, and BBQ event in Salmon, Idaho in 2007. I had never heard of him before but I really enjoyed his music and energy. If you like the blues you will like this guy. Buy his CD's but be sure to see him live too!

Curtis is a great singer with a great band. His duets with Bekka Bramlett are killer. There's slow blues, fast blues, horns, humor - what more could you ask?

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Blues Vocalist, September 20, 2007

Curtis Salgado is one of the great under-rated blues vocalists. This is not his best work...one or two of the songs I think are ill-chosen. Regardless, you'll enjoy it if you like good, gritty blues singing.
