5.0 out of 5 stars Simple to install, works perfectly!
I ordered this and the comparable lift support for the right side of the hood of a 1993 Toyota Camry XLE V6. The pair arrived quickly and were appropriately packaged. 3.0 out of 5 stars StrongArm 4217 L for 91-96 Toyota Camry
Product is fine and installs easily. However, it does not have a mounting for attaching the windshield wiper cabling like the OEM part.

This review is from: StrongArm 4217L Toyota Camry Hood Lift Support (L) 1991-96, Pack of 1 (Misc.)
I ordered this and the comparable lift support for the right side of the hood of a 1993 Toyota Camry XLE V6. The pair arrived quickly and were appropriately packaged. Installation took about four minutes per side (if that) consisting of removing one bolt from the firewall, removing the other end from the stud attached to the hood (held in place by a spring clip), and then putting the new strut in place in the reverse order. In my car, the original firewall anchor on the left side (i.e. the driver's side) also had a place for a wire harness to clip onto, which was not available on the StrongArm replacement. So once everything is unbolted, you'll need to take the wire harness off of the original firewall anchor. If necessary, you can use a zip tie to hold the harness in place, or you can simply let the wire harness hang.

Now my hood stays up, and that's all there is to say. The lift supports have been in service for about a month with no signs of defects or any other problems. I'd buy these again.

I purchased the left and right supports. I have a 1994 6 cyl. Camry.

Installation was easier than easy. They fit and perform perfectly.

On the driver's (left) side I did have to drill out the two spot welds holding the wire harness bracket to the support bracket, but that only took a few minutes. Once the wire harness bracket was freed from the support bracket the installation of it only took an additional few seconds.

Note: The supports are made in the U.S.A.

4.0 out of 5 stars Had to turn the unit to make it work, July 26, 2010

I installed the lifts and they were a little troublesome at first. They did not quite match up with the latch at the bottom which required me to rotate each of the lifts 180 degrees. No I did not have them on the wrong side. It was the only way they would work. I also had a mount that originally was connected to the old lifts but the new mounts did not provide this so I just let it dangle as the part that needed a mount inside the engine did not seem that important. I had my buddy who is a mechanical engineer look over everything for me. Other than getting dealing with these obstables the product has been working great. The directions were a little difficult to read on the plastic but the product seems to be very good for the money which usually costs 200% in a retail store. I would recommend again but beware of the obstables you may face depending on which model you have. Thanks.
