I have tried previouly to buy Hood/liftgate stuts, but without success of getting the proper items for my cars. These are perfect match to my 1996 Grand Cherokee. I had them installed in no time. There is a difference from left to right, so do not buy struts that claim to be universal. They will not work properly.

Great Product!!

These struts are identical to the original struts in my Jeep. Replaced within 10 minutes, although you do need a special socket to remove the E-type screws that attach the struts to the vehicle. Note that there are struts for the Left and Right side of the liftgate. DO NOT buy struts that claim to fit either side of the liftgate. I originally bought Sachs trunk struts from a local parts shop, which were supposed to fit either left and right sides - but I needed to use a few metal washers as shims so the door would close.

A local body shop wanted $150 to replace the jeep liftgate pistons. I did it in less than one hour, and they work great! NOTE: You may have to go to a local auto parts store and buy the hex socket like I did, but a small set including the needed socket cost only $7, so I still saved big! Be sure to select "L" or "R" if you're not replacing both.

These lift supports work well for my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. In order to remove the old lifts and install the new ones, I needed an E8 female Torx star socket to remove and replace the arms. (It took me a while to find the right socket.) I got an 11 piece set from Amazon Anytime Tools 11 piece FEMALE E-TORX (star) SOCKET Set w/RAIL E4-E20 that included size E8.

I ordered a pair of these replacement lifts for my 96 Grand Cherokee, and they were an exact match for my OEM parts. They work beautifully. This is definitely a two-person project since you'll need one person to hold the lift gate up while the other switches out the lifts. The entire process took about 20 minutes to complete with my father's help.

You'll need an E8 socket and a small flathead screwdriver. If you don't have an E8 socket laying around, see if you can borrow one; otherwise, you may have to buy a set with 6-9 sockets, some of which you may never use.

This is the same product they had at my local NAPA store, but at a lower price. Installation was easy (required E8 external torx socket that was hard to find on its own). Lifts great.

I bought 3 different sizes for my Jeep Grand Cherokee. These are pretty easy to replace, but they are really strong. I have no problem at all now with the heavy rear door. I actually just pop the handle and start to open the hatch door, then these take over and raise it up. Buy them without hesitation.

Great price. Delivered on time. Works great. Easy to install. Remember there is a Right and a Left version of the support. Remember to prop the door up with something sturdy while you make the repairs. Great to have my tailgate operational again.

After having my 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee lift gate fall on my head for the 1000th time this winter, I finally sprang for these replacement supports. These were a perfect fit for my OEM ones and only took a screwdriver and 5 minutes to install. Found myself wondering why I waited so darn long to replace them!
