5.0 out of 5 stars Over-the-top cornball, good-clean-fun!
Forgetting the Disney corporate and technical criticism, the movie itself is thoroughly entertaining, good clean fun. It's full of great character actors from the 60's and 70's including a hilarious Joe Flynn. The movie is full of over-the-top cornball fun and thankfully it's devoid of profanity, flatulence jokes and violence found in so many movies geared at kids today...

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer beware
"The Strongest Man in the World" is far from the best movie Disney studios produced in its family-film heyday (late '50's to early '80's). However, I still find it to be quite enjoyable, especially the beginning and ending half-hours, which are quite funny. So why only one star? BECAUSE IT IS NOT IN WIDESCREEN, BUT IN A CUT-RATE 1:33:1 FULLSCREEN PRINT, with...

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun, simple, movie., September 7, 2000
This review is from: The Strongest Man in the World [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have been searching for this video and finally got a chance to watch it a few days ago. It was as funny as I remembered it. This movie is definitely dated and might not appeal to some people, but my family loved it. Hope to see it and the other two Medfield movies (The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes and Now You See Him, Now You Don't) on DVD soon.

I liked this movie when I was young and enjoy seeing it again. My favorite of the Disney Medfield college series.

Like most Disney movies of its generation, this was a wholesome and fun G-rated movie that my whole family enjoyed seeing. I had great memories of watching this movie when it first came out. I really liked seeing my children (ages 7, 5, and 3) enjoy this movie as much as I did when I was their age. This would be a good addition for parents who are collecting wholesome and clean movies for their young children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable for kids, July 7, 2007

I saw this movie at the right time-when I was about 10 years old circa 1975. Wacky, silly fare about Kurt Russell as a college kid who comes across a weightlifting formula and the crooks who try to steal it.

Good goofy gags for the tot set, especially the guy whose arms turn to rubber when he tries to lift weights.

Adults will not want to bother with this unless they see it with kids or have nostalgia for seeing in their own childhood. With that said, leave your brains at the door and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Silly But FUN!, January 3, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This movie is typical of the live-action Disney fare from the 60s and 70s. Harmless fun based on a silly premise. Kurt Russell was always so fun to watch in his Disney movies. This is the type of movie that was on Sunday nights when I was a kid and afterwards on various local stations and finally on the Disney Channel before they started original programming and adding other shows of a dubious (but more "hip") nature. If you like silly fun for the whole family, check out this title or any other family movie that features Kurt Russell, Tommy Kirk, Fred MacMurray, Joe Flynn, Ken Berry, Keenan Wynn & Ed Wynn, Hayley Mills, Jim Dale, Dean Jones, Tim Conway, Don Knotts, Robert Morse, Phil Silvers, or Mickey Rooney. You won't be disappointed!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars One of Disney's better "live" entries, March 22, 2004

(REAL NAME)
Gee I remember seeing this on a double bill with the animated film
"Robin Hood" way back in the '70s. This was when Disney made tons
of live action comedies Like The shaggy D.A. & The love bug series

The story is Milford College's unknown discovery of a formula for
super strength Kurt Russell becomes the title character and Milford
enters him into the school's national strongman event which if they
win can mean much needed money,Meanwhile "The Dean" Dick Van Patten
is secretly planning to sell the formula to a cereal company called
"Kringle Krunch" while a rival cereal company plans to steal it.

With a memorable cast including Ceasar Romero,Joe Flynn and the
always wonderful Eve Arden this is one of Disney's more memorable
family fairs and a nostalstic look back at when Disney had a good
hold on boxoffice comedy. My 4 stars is lack of widescreen format
Now, where's Disney's "The world's greatest athlete" at.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite Disney movies, June 5, 2011
This is one of the most far-fetched and hilarious movies the Disney company ever came up with. If the name "Phil Silvers" rings a bell, you will want to see it just because of him! Can you imagine criminal activities all over a cereal company competition? That's how crazy this movie gets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!!, September 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The Stongest man in the world is AWESOME! I watched it as a young girl back at the drive-in. Disappointed that there was no theme song like the rest of the Kurt Russell movies :), but a great wholesome movie for the whole family. You won't be disappointed
