If you've never played the Stronghold games before you're in for a treat. This classic castle building sim will have you thinking medieval 24/7. The four games focus on unique aspects of gameplay and so all four are very playable. The original game focuses on building large armies and economies. Crusader Extreme raises the stakes by moving the battle to the Arabian desert and allowing armies of thousands of troops. Stronghold II focus on detail and management. And Legends adds a fantasy aspect encountered in the other titles. Best of all, the entire collection is DRM free. No worrking about install limits or scratched disks. When you buy the Stronghold collection, these games are yours to keep!

I have been a Stronghold fan since I bought a trial CD for the first Stronghold game many years ago. This pack comes with all the games you can't find elsewhere. Stronghold and II and Stronghold Crusader, and Crusader Extreme, and Stronghold Legends. I like Stronghold, and Stronghold II especially, although I think some of the graphics were better in the first one than the second one. The games offer the ability to play an economic story progression or a military one. You can also do a free build. My sons enjoy Crusader more than the originals because of the new troops available. Legends allows you to play as King Arthur among others, and adds suck troop options as Ice Giants and dragons.
It offers many hours of play and is a great RTS game. I would recommend to anyone who likes this kind of game.

A nice collection of games that actually work on Win7 and NO nasty DRM. Maybe EA and Ubisoft should take note and stop putting DRM,s in theyre games.

First off, before I downloaded this game about 2months ago, I had never played a Stronghold Game. However, when I downloaded it I decided to play the games from 1st to last. The odd part is is that I HATE games with poor graphics BUT the first 2 games were VERY fun. Even though they had poor graphics I preferred them over the newer releases of this game simply because I love the medieval aspect of the originals. I wasn't a fan of stupid music and dragons in the last 2 releases (I'm a huge fantasy fan but these dragons just didn't cut it for me).
All in all, I would say if you loved the medieval feel and play style of the Age of Empires games then you'll love the first 2 installments of this game! However if you're not a fan of RTS (Real Time Strategy) games or if you don't enjoy building ancient cities, defending them from invaders, or otherwise creating a wonderfully prosperous community, than this game just isn't for you ^^ I gave this game a 4/5 stars because I LOVED the games. Just really hated the crappy portrayal of a fantasy world filled with bad music and worse dragons in the later installments. *If you're wondering what games were/weren't good: The original "Stronghold" + "Stronghold Crusader" + "Stronghold Crusader Extreme" were all very good and felt very authentic. The "Stronghold Legends" and later installments were bad and just felt overall, cheap and lost that good old medieval feeling I so much enjoyed in the earlier versions. So if you're going to get these games, I personally would stay away from the newer ones and go for the older classics. But if you're a die-hard Stronghold fan than this really couldn't be a better game for you!

yeah, all are along the same line of rts. enough of a change between the versions to make it worth while. Each game has its piculiarities that can throw you. For instance in the Arabic challenges the Fire Ballistas fire by themselves, where as the Legends campaign, you have to tell the ballistas what to do.
Good variety of difficulty. You can make the game as easy or as hard as you want to. If you are just out for the gaming experience, you can make a round go for 2-4 hours, pending on your difficulty settings. StrongHold 2 has a lot more to do with castle life (such as catching rats and removing people dung) were as Legends has a population cap and specialty characters via Honour gained. All in all a nicely rounded game with variety between all the versions

This is by far the best RTS i have ever played, i played this as a small child many years ago , with my older brother, and since then lost it. I recently asked my brother if he remember this game and i found it, i am overjoyed with gaming right now. Because this is my favorite game ever since i can remeber.

I can personally say I have played every single stronghold various times and they are all amazing. They are each in their own way different from the other and have a whole new plot and game play. Just to think you can buy them all at once in the same pack is great and I would recommend this game to everyone and I can almost for sure say you will enjoy this game. Especially for someone that has played any stronghold game and has enjoyed it this is a must buy.

It was easy to download from Amazon and real easy to install the game, I have fun playing it and you get 5 games in one, the price for the game ain't bad either, and it works with windows 7 32bit not sure how it would do on windows 7 64bit sense I'm not using the 64bit.

My son loves castles and swords and everything related to Knights. Well, what boy at 6 doesn't. I bought this figuring I could play it, and have him watch, and slowly have him take over. Well i was wrong. After booting it up the first time, he started clicking around, and is totally addicted to the re-enactment castle seiges and defenses. He's done parts of the campaign, and may I even say it's helping him as he learns basic reading skills.
Of course the only problem is limiting his time playing this and asking him to turn it off without a negative reaction.........but overall for the price- an incredible purchase value. |
