STRONGHOLD a Veronica Lake Western Film,

This is the 2nd western film VERONICA LAKE made during her Hollywood career. The first was RAMROD. This ARTIFLIX copy has a very sharp image to the DVD. I have two other copies--one on VHS & the other a DVD from other companies. The ARTIFLIX copy is by far the best image quality!
The flim was inexpensively made in the early 1950's in Mexico by Lippert Films at the end of VERONICA LAKE'S film career. She is beautiful in the film wearing Civil War costumes and there are 4 different segments where she is shown wearing a long wig as would be the fashion in the mid-eighteen hundreds. Her acting is good and the story has merit and interest as it parallels the Maximillian/Juarez movement. The highlight of the film today would be the fact that VERONICA LAKE stars in it and it was her last appearance as a young actress being only about 29 when it was released in 1951/52. Her last 2 screen appearances showed her in middle age in 1966 & 1973. I would recommend this film to any VERONICA LAKE fan!

There are no references during the credits to the fact that Lippert Pictures released this. The first few seconds of the opening credits and the end title have the look of not being original. Overall the print loks quite good although there is one instance of a drop-out where there is a missing word during dialogue.
