4.0 out of 5 stars Solutions Manual necessary
Like all his books, Hibbeler does a wonderful job organizing and laying out the material. However, also like his other books, the example problems in the chapter are not in the same realm of difficulty as the problems at the end of the chapter. With subject matter this difficult, it would be an excellent idea to acquire the solutions manual, a nearly impossible book to...

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice try, but full of errors
This book could be a great book for the unergrad intro to structures course. It has a nice writing style, it is easy to understand, and has plenty of example problems. However, it is FULL of errors. It think someone in my class would find a new error at least once a week.

1.0 out of 5 stars terrible text for undergrads, May 18, 2005
I am a civil engineering student and this was the text for my structural mechanics course, and I hated it. There were no exaamples, those contained within skipped half of the steps, and there were numerous errors throughout the text. I do not reccommend this text to other students.

5.0 out of 5 stars COMPLETELY PERFECT, May 23, 2003
I strongly recommend any civil engineering student to obtain this book.It covers whole subjects in elementary structural mechanics and structural analysis in great detail. There are large number of example problems solved neatly.I could not detect any mistake in the text or problem part.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book, September 7, 2007
This review is from: Structural Analysis (6th Edition) (Hardcover)
One of my most favorite books on structural theory. It was very easy to understand, tons of examples, and is still a valuble resource for calculating structural problems at work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Features Solutions to Complex Trusses, February 25, 2009
This review is from: Structural Analysis (6th Edition) (Hardcover)
One characteristic of this book is the many complex trusses (including uncommon ones, and space trusses) that are featured. Otherwise, complex trusses can be broken down into a series of simpler ones.

There is also discussion of frames (including those with no sidesway), virtual work, Castigliano's theorem, matrix algebra, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good For Self Study, March 10, 2004
I have studied every single page of this book. It is very good for self study and an ideal one towards undergraduate perfection. Complex topics are told in a very clear manner. Examples and figures make the book so understandable. Strongly recommended before entering into advanced topics...
(I could find 2 errors but they are obvious if you be careful)

5.0 out of 5 stars Structural Analysis, June 19, 2001
This review is from: Structural Analysis (Hardcover)
Dr. Hibbeler has put a complicated topic in terms and examples that any engineering student can understand. The 4th edition has corrected most errors and shows the introduction to the breadth and depth of structural anaylsis. The layout of Dr. Hibbeler's stuctural anaylsis, flows from the Static's and Mechanics of Materials that all students of Civil Engineering have been introduced to.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, but many errors in the text solutions., June 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Structural Analysis (Hardcover)
This book provides an excellent introduction to structural analysis. The photos, illustrations, and attention to details are unparalleled by any other structures book. The illustrations show realistic structures, not meaningless stick diagrams. One word of warning though...Many solutions in the back of the text are printed wrong. Strangely, the solution manual has the correct solutions though. Finding the wrong answers in the back of the text can be very discouraging for students learning structural analysis for the first time.
