5.0 out of 5 stars A Solid Summary of Basic Engineering Information
This work provides information on such things as geometric sections, beams, trusses, arches, plates, etc., often under various loading conditions. Its chapter on frame analysis is notable. Also featured are such things as building foundations, pipes and tunnels, soils, retaining structures, etc.

The book provides numerous structural formula in metric format only. there is a conversion chart that shows up at the end. Nowhere in the description of the book does it state the formula applications are for SI units ONLY.

5.0 out of 5 stars Condensed convenience, August 5, 2008

This is a very handy little book. Properties of plane areas, basic vibration, beam formulas, plates w/ various b.c.'s, foundations, frames, arches, earth retaining, pipes & tunnels. Think of it as a specialized, watered down Roark's with more than a few hidden gems. It was extremely useful in my exam and is still very used as a quick reference or for basic first passes and superpositions for more complicated problems.

I humbly suggest that the review mentioning units is unfounded. The book is unitless as far as I've seen, aside from the examples. The examples use metric units.

Excellant quick referance. Reviewed this book while studying for recent PE exam. Author included plenty of blank "Note" pages throughout book which I utilized to add comments and referances to other texts. Used book during exam with great success.

This handy little reference is equation and information dense. Basic and oft used engineering equations are organized in a simple way.

I bought this for the PE in April, 2010. I used it to answer one question... which makes it worth the price right there.

In my day to day practice, I use it for frame engineering. This one is a keeper.

This book provides a wide variety of structural formula, both the basic and the more involved. It provides basic guidance on how to approach solving structural problems. I did notice that the preference in units is metric, but the book provides straight forward conversion from american units.

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy the Kindle Vers. Hard to read, October 26, 2011
I will never again buy technical books in the kindle version, particlarly old scanned ones like this one. It is hard to make out the symbols and variable. You cannot distinguish between characters.
The content is very good just unusable with the Kindle.

1.0 out of 5 stars Over rated, July 25, 2011
This review is from: Structural Engineering Formulas (Hardcover)
The ratings here are way too high. This book has tiny print and nearly half the pages are blank for "notes". Many of the formulas are already contained in the AISC Steel Manual which most structural engineers already have, so there is little to no value to the book in my opinion. Wasted money relying on the other high reviews here.
