5.0 out of 5 stars An Old Thick, Single-Volume Reference Book Packed with Information, March 27, 2009
This review is from: Structural Engineering Handbook, Edited By Edwin H. Gaylord, Jr. And Charles N. Gaylord, Copyright 1968 McGraw-Hill, Inc. (Hardcover)
This 1968 edition, though dated, allows for a relatively straightforward understanding of engineering concepts which nowadays are often hidden in computer programs for engineers.

Each chapter is written by a separate specialist. There is a wealth of data on such things as masonry construction, timber engineering, steel construction, soil mechanics, frame analysis, shell structures, long-span roofs, properties of steels, barrel vaults, bridge design, rigid joints, wind deflection of structures, design of towers, and much more.
