PLEASE PROVIDE COURSE INFORMATIONThis well-known text has been fully updated to conform with AISC's 1993 LRFD Specification. While written primarily for undergraduates, this book will also help practicing engineers originally trained to use the ASD procedure to change to the LRFD method. The author has revised many of the existing end-of-chapter problems and has added several more. A problem-solving software package, included with each book, is tied to chapter exercises and allows students to specify parameters for particular problems and have the computer assist them.

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

the undergraduate course in structural steel design using the Load and Resistance Factor Design Method (LRFD). The text also enables practicing engineers who have been trained to use the Allowable Stress Design procedure (ASD) to change easily to this more economical and realistic method for proportioning steel structures.

The book comes with problem-solving software tied to chapter exercises which allows student to specify parameters for particular problems and have the computer assist them. On-screen information about how to use the software and the significance of various problem parameters is featured. The second edition reflects the revised steel specifications (LRFD) of the American Institute of Steel Construction.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book for students and general reference, but..., February 7, 2008
I studied with this book in my years at the university. I was looking for a good reference book and I decided to buy this one. But when i went thru the chapters, I realized that all the topics are very student-oriented (as it's saying in the book's preface). I'm still looking for good advanced analysis and design book.
If you are an engineer, starting in the steel analysis and design, this is the book for you.
If your are an engineer looking for in-deep and advanced reference and explanations...look for another.

5.0 out of 5 stars comprehensive book on steel construction, November 16, 2008
It has clear cohesive text but it can use a bit more examples. It is comprehensive and I did not see any errors. Overall great book, i benefited so much from it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Book, August 2, 2008
I used the third edition of this book (LRFD) in my undergraduate and I used this edition for my graduate class. It is a great help for me as I am not a steel expert. I like it's simple form and the use of both LRFD and ASD in all examples.
