Book Description

December 8, 2005 0198570260 978-0198570264
The authors have correlated many experimental observations and theoretical discussions from the scientific literature on water. Topics covered include the water molecule and forces between water molecules; the thermodynamic properties of steam; the structures of the ices; the thermodynamic, electrical, spectroscopic, and transport properties of the ices and of liquid water; hydrogen bonding in ice and water; and models for liquid water. The main emphasis of the book is on relating the properties of ice and water to their structures. Some background material in physical chemistry has been included in order to ensure that the material is accessible to readers in fields such as biology, biochemistry and geology as well as to chemists and physicists.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent source to alter your perception of a common substance, August 7, 2009

This review is from: The Structure and Properties of Water (Oxford Classic Texts in the Physical Sciences) (Paperback)
Definitely a classic! This book is an excellent in-depth source of inquiry about something so common, that its special properties are often overlooked. This book isn't a good pick for an introduction to the study of water, but it is an indispensable source for the philosophical foundation behind this subject. I jumped around a lot in this book, taking bits and pieces out and I am sure I will continue to do so for many years. For an analytical chemist like me, this book provides lots of sound physical principles to intuit from.

This review is from: The Structure and Properties of Water (Oxford Classic Texts in the Physical Sciences) (Paperback)
Though printed originally in 1969, this book is still a classic and a must have for researchers of water, its properties and hydrogen bonds.

In fact, I bought 2 of this book and one gifted to my former colleagues in Russian Academy of Sciences.
