Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

YA--Beginning with the Greeks, Halpern presents a basic overview of the history of astronomy leading up to and covering how scientists currently view the organization of the universe and its future. Concise and accessible, the information is organized and carefully constructed for nonexperts. Charts, photographs, illustrations, and inserts help to clarify details and textual explanations. Each chapter builds upon the previous one, so a knowledgeable understanding of the subject grows steadily as readers progress through the pages. Unfortunately, sources are not listed. Young adults interested in astronomy and theories about the universe and not seeking in-depth explanations and the usual accompanying mathematical calculations will find this book exactly what they want.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very interesting book, March 25, 2000
This review is from: The Structure of the Universe (Scientific American Focus Book) (Paperback)
"The Structure of the Universe" is a very good book with a lot of interesting information. It presents many of the intruiging questions that cosmologists ask today, over such topics as dark matter, the structure of the universe, and the expansion of the Universe. Through many graphs and charts, they show many of the processes that happen today and also explain possible outcomes of the Universe. It is a very good book for any novice who would like to know a little bit about cosmology.
