Book Description

November 1997 0880489375 978-0880489379 1
Updated for DSM-IV, the Structured Interview for DSM-IV Personality (SIDP-IV) is a semi-structured interview that uses nonpejorative questions to examine behavior and personality traits from the patientÂs perspective. The SIDP-IV is organized by topic sections rather than disorder to allow for a more natural conversational flow, a method that gleans useful information from related interview questions and produces a more accurate diagnosis. Designed as a follow-up to a general psychiatric interview and chart review that assesses episodic psychiatric disorders, the SIDP-IV helps the interviewer to more easily distinguish lifelong behavior from temporary states that result from an episodic psychiatric disorder. During the session, the interviewer can also refer to the specific DSM-IV criterion associated with that question set. In the event that the clinician decides to interview a third-party informant such as family members or close friends, a consent form is provided at the end of the interview. With this useful, concise interview in hand, clinicians can move quickly from diagnosis to treatment and begin to improve their patientÂs quality of life.

Review

I have utilized the SIDP-IV as a diagnostic tool from its inception, and I have found it to be of exceptional value... -- Larry J. Siever, M.D., Professor of Psychiatry, Director of Special Evaluation, Program for Mood and Personality Disorders, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and Bronx VA Medical Centers, Bronx, New York

The SIDP-IV is a very 'user-friendly' semi-structured interview for diagnosing DSM-IV personality disorders -- Kenneth R. Silk, M.D., Associate Chair for Clinical and Administrative Affairs, Director, Personality Disorders Section, Adult Ambulatory Division, Department of Psychiatry, University of Michigan Medical Center

This review is from: Structured Interview for DSM-IV Personality (Package of 5 Booklets) (Paperback)
While the product is as described and is what I was looking for, the original order was incomplete. I received one booklet, while the descibed product was listed as a packet of five. I was able to contact Amazon and received a corrected order for free, but as I was planning on using them as part of a presentation, I was somewhat disappointed.
