4.0 out of 5 stars Very readable textbook
Comprehensive and interesting presentation of U.S. government, history, and politics ranging from the Revolutionary War period to present day administration. Engaging text with numerous graphics and photos. The companion website contains a variety of self tests for each chapter which greatly enhance the learning process.

1.0 out of 5 stars This book sucks.
In a number of places it paints a misleading picture of national history, and in more than one place essentially does a "Fox News" by presenting both sides of an argument and then subsequently saying, "And this is the right argument and that other one is wrong." Ugh.

The most sickening series of words I've seen thus far in the book is, "The American people...

5.0 out of 5 stars A great educational book!, February 13, 2010

The book was received with basically no tears or folds. So far I have used it a lot. The book is incredibly up to date with pictures of Barrak Obama in it and it talks about the current reccesion as well. However who knows maybe in 2011 this book will be "out of date".

The Book was in great condition, everything I need in the book was already highlighted. And she had a lot of side notes. Which is very very helpful to me. I got the books quickly, and the seller kept in touch until I received it! Would definitely buy from this seller again.

Thanks so much!!

The most sickening series of words I've seen thus far in the book is, "The American people are fit to rule." This is an actual conclusion that the book comes to and then asserts is correct. While it may more or less be a reasonable conclusion, the arrogance with which the text presents the material is, to me, almost unbearable at times.
