I admit I love stringed instruments and so am already a fan of cool instrumental stuff, but this one on Panic! is so awesome I find myself getting the chills listening to each song.

Then you will love this.
I am a lover of Classical and Alternative music, so finding this tribute for one of my fave bands was probably the best thing that could have ever happened to me. It's amazing how this string quartet can capture the essence of the songs that Panic! originally brought to it, and keep it a masterpiece. I would suggest this to any music freak/ music appreciation scholar out there.

This is one of my favourite string quartet tribute albums, and perhaps the only one I own that I consider better than the original album. "The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide Is Press Coverage" is superb, "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" follows the melody better than its forerunner, and "Time to Dance" has, to my ear, only one tiny falter.
"Intermission" did not disappoint!

Good, but could have been Greater,

A nice effort, performing the entire album on string instruments. But it lacked a certain depth of flavour that could have been much better accomplished with a full orchestra. It does sound good, but it just feels like something is missing.

Interesting concept, but a little strange in its execution.,

I love all kinds of music - from punk to classical.
When I saw that a string quartet was covering Panic at the Disco's music, my interest was immediately piqued. The few samples I listened to amused me, and I bought it. While it's certainly innovative, it actually weirds me out a little bit to hear these familiar tunes played in such a different manner. I've only listened to the CD a few times since the purchase because of that. The quartet is very, it's just not quite my cup of tea. |
