Another classic E B White tale, August 14, 2011
This review is from: Stuart Little (Hardcover)
I love the perspective the mouse protagonist provides of the world around him, from his tiny clothes and bed to his boating expedition. As a child, I think we all felt tiny in a great big world, and rereading this book recaptures that part of childhood, when we as adults often feel the world is a much smaller place. Stuart Little is one of my all time favorite books.

A welcome addition to any children's home library..., June 28, 2011
This review is from: Stuart Little (Hardcover)
Stuart Little is not as near and dear to my heart as other E.B. White classics (Charlotte's Web), but it still has a certain charm. I also love the pictures that White so easily paints with his words. His descriptions of just about anything are detailed and spot on and that makes for a very informative read for children. Stuart himself comes off, to me, as a bit pretentious. But then, leading a life as a 2-inch high mouse/man born of human parents can't be easy.
I had read this story years ago and just re-read it in stages as a bedtime story for my daughter. She loved it. She especially enjoyed when I gave each character a different voice, which is simple to do since White's writing style easily allows a reader to hear various accent nuances in her head. She was sad to see the story end and, I'll admit, I do believe the tale concludes rather abruptly. But the bedtime entertainment is certainly worth its weight in gold (and the reasonable price of purchasing this book).
