4.0 out of 5 stars Such a great read! June 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Stubborn Love was one of those books that once I started, I couldn't put it down. The prologue sucked me in and from then on, I had to know how everything worked out. I thoroughly enjoyed this 4 star book. It had just the right amount of turmoil. Enough to keep the story flowing but not so much that my heart was stopping.

Emmie Hayes found love at a young age. But it turned out to be a love she hadn't bargained for. She finally gets the power to leave. But her husband, Ashton, is not about to let her go so easily. Three years later and Emmie is still scarred from everything that happened with Ashton. But, she is determined to move on with her life and accomplish the things that she has always wanted to do. And she is not about to let a man get in her way.

Upon arriving in New York, she meets Paige who becomes her roommate. I instantly fell in love with Paige. She is one those side characters that brings so much to the story: humor, enlightenment, and a solid friendship. It is through Paige that Emmie meets Colin. At first, Emmie is repulsed by Colin. But the aggravated man that she met on the first day is not who continues to show up. No, this guy is sweet, giving, and hardworking. But, even though Colin grows on her, she refuses to open up. Love scares Emmie and she is not about to make the same mistake she made several years ago.

“Everything I promised myself I would never do again, and here I was, departing from the reality I had accepted and losing all control. He made me feel again – my heart ached, and he consumed me in a way I never thought possible.”

Colin had me swooning immediately. I felt Colin's love for Emmie through his actions. He was so good to her and sensing the walls that she has up, wanted nothing more than to protect her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just one more chapter June 30, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is one of those books that you keep telling yourself, "Just one more chapter". The next thing you know it's 3am and you're done with the book!
It was a quick and fun read. I loved that it made me laugh out loud (to the dismay of my sleeping husband) and fight back tears.
Can't wait for her next book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book July 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoyed this book. It was the perfect blend of romance and personal growth. There are times when I crave that sweet, bittersweet, emotional romance and this book is the perfect story for that. Clementine, the main female character, is still dealing with a very difficult first marriage gone horribly wrong and is now starting a new life for herself in NY. She is a very beautiful, talented woman dealing with self-confidence issues. But she is extremely likeable and the reader wants to root for her. This story is about her new life and moving on in life with a new relationship. All characters in this book are very likeable and it makes the reader want to be included in this group. I could not put the book down and I would definitely read another book by this author!

(Disclosure: I received a free copy of the book to review, however complimentary copies do not guarantee that I will review the book, and do not sway my opinion on the story.)

3.0 out of 5 stars great plot... needed more details November 29, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved the characters and the plot. I feel like the story would have been more gripping and emotional if more details were given instead of just brief descriptions of the scenes. I wanted to feel what the main character was feeling but I couldn't quite connect with her as well since everything was so rushed. It was a good book though and I would recommend it to a friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars really great read!! June 29, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I received a copy of this book for my honest review.

From the first page I was hooked! I was tearing up by the end of the first chapter! I was really uphill from there. I liked the interaction between all the characters. The only element I thought was missing was more of Paiges' background. We got Collin Christian and Emmies stories but not really Paiges'. I liked that we got to see Paige and Collin take things slow. It wasn't wham bam we're together forever. Overall I really would recommend this read it flowed really well. I was able to finish it in about an hour and a half.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good premise just lacking in execution July 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my review.

I liked the main characters as well as the supporting characters. Their personalities were well done. And even though the plot of the book was predictable, it was enjoyable nonetheless.

I had a few problems:
1. The free dictionary defines the word snarled: "To growl viciously while baring the teeth." Now the author uses this term for conversations b/w the main 4 characters - what? Google defines the word squealed: 1.Make such a cry or noise: "the girls squealed with delight". Now in my mind, we're talking about young girls at a One Direction concert. Not adults living on their own in New York City. There were other instances and other words but these really got on my nerves. Describing situations in childish or clearly inappropriate ways.

2. The "angst" part of the story was weak. The make-up scene was short and didn't hold water. The conversation needed more depth.

3. There was a situation that came up with Colin's brother Christian that was never resolved. That bugged me.

Overall the book was good but could have been much much better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worried
I hate when the main characters are so stubborn that they waste a lot of my reading time. This was not like that. It was a nice story about patience and understanding and love.

Great story of finding love when lives are broken. Seemed like there were some gaps in the story, but it flowed well anyway.

Great book and I can't wait to read more from this author. I can only imagine what it must have felt like to write those scenes because they made me cry.
