Who wins when an irresistable force meets a stubborn Texan?, September 29, 2007
This review is from: One Stubborn Texan (Harlequin American Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Russ Klein wants only one thing--to be left alone with his wilderness business in the hill country of Texas. He's finally helped his mother overcome her self-destructive tendencies, he's survived a father who never cared for him, and he's made something of himself. The last thing he wants is to be reminded of his Las Vegas childhood--and of what those fast-living days did to his mother. Turning down money is easy. Saying no to the beautiful woman who's trying to give it to him, now that is really tough.
For heir-finder Sydney Baines, the Oberlin Inheritance is the holy grail. The commission will not only save her father's business--a business that has been almost ruined as her father dealt with the loss of his wife--it'll also prove to her father that Sydney is a formidable investigator in her own right. And giving the super-sexy Texan a nice chunk of money is certainly a good deed. Or she would have thought so. Mostly, people go out of their way to persuade her they're the heirs even if they aren't. But Russ Klein seems to want her to believe he isn't--even as more and more evidence says he is. So, what is going on here?
Author Kara Lennox spins a charming tale of romance, second chances, and redemption. Both Russ and Sydney have compelling reasons for their positions--reasons that come from their love of family. To overcome those and to create a new family will be a real challenge. Some cute secondary issues like Russ's oversized dog (Sydney is afraid of dogs) add to the enjoyment.
ONE STUBBORN TEXAN is one enjoyable read.

Stubborn?, July 29, 2010
This review is from: One Stubborn Texan (Harlequin American Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I REALLY did not like this story. Russ was the only good part. He was funny, a good man, not stubborn at all, and I couldn't find one thing wrong with his decisions. Like, ever.
Sydney got on my nerves so much, I finally just gave up on the story and scanned through to see the ending. She was so superficial and prissy, how could anybody want that kind of a person? Materialist, rude, bratty, selfish, close-minded...I could go on and on.
If I can't relate to the main female character in the least, then forget it. I couldn't care less what happened to her anymore halfway through.

lighthearted romp, September 12, 2007
This review is from: One Stubborn Texan (Harlequin American Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Linhart, Texas is a quiet small Hill Country town. At least it sued to be quiet; then New York City private investigator Sydney Baines of Baines and Baines arrives looking for Russ Klein, owner of the general store. She explains she tracks down heirs of lost money for a fee. His biological father Sammy Oberlin left him $10 million.
Russ is not interested in the money and though he would love a fling with the big city slicker, he wants her to leave. He fears that if his mom, Sammy's widow, learns about the inheritance she would rush back to Las Vegas and her gambling addiction would explode. Sydney tries to persuade him with her assets to collect his assets so she can earn her finder's fee of 10%, as her family desperately needs the money. They fall in love in spite of their differing opinions..
The key to this amusing tale is Sydney's frustration and attraction to ONE STUBBORN TEXAN, who does not want the money that she can obtain for him. The changing relationship seems off kilter, as the lead couple each has family problems but to their credit neither welcomes the feelings of love at this time. Fans will enjoy Kara Lennox's lighthearted romp.
