I have seen some reviews that say you 'have' to walk through the entire game.

Untrue. There are some great vehicles you can drive and send your victims flying with.

Also, the plot is not just that the Police Chief is mad at you.
Fact is, you (Stubbs) have just invaded a town of the future. (Set in the past, but with a futuristic and comedic flair)

A perfect city that is without crime.

A city almost entirely ran by robots.

You begin your Zombie reign and he police force comes out in droves to stop you.

(Oh, and Stubbs falls in love at first sight with a woman who is drug away by ... I'm not tellin'....)

Now, there is more plot. But, why give it all away?

This program ran very well on a system that met just about in the middle of the minimum specs and the recommended specs.

It's quite a lot of fun. And, yes, when Stubbs walks he is rather slow.

But, what else would you expect from a zombie?

This is, in fact, NOT a track-and-field game.

BTW, The blood spurting effect is hilarious. Especially when the victims are screaming out 1 of dozens of very funny lines.

You can even rip off your arm and send it after a person while you're busy attacking someone else.

All i have to say is that this game turned out to be everything it promised to be.

3rd-person zombie video game, done dozens of times before. 3rd-person zombie video game where you are the zombie! awesome. Add in a retro-future background and you have a classic in the making.

You are Edward "Stubbs" Stubblefield, former traveling salesman, former deinzen in the realm of the living. It's 1959 and you have risen from your grave 30 years after your death. It's time to find out what happened, and eat anyone's brain who gets in the way! Obviously not for the younger crowd, as the game features copious amounts of gore and violence (amoung other things, including the manner in which you must contaminate the local water supply).

Basically, the premise of the game is: you walk around, run into everyday folk, attack and/ or devour their brain, repeat as necessary, watch your zombie army amass from your vicitms, enjoy the chaos that ensues as you slowly disable the city of the future. Your zombie cohorts aren't as versatile as you are, and are best used in large numbers against the un-armed and armed citizens of Punchbowl, PA. But wait, you do have more powers than clawing the people and snacking on their skulls. Exploding intestines, beating people with their own limbs, possesion (a la Thing from the Addam's Family), bowling your head off... literally, and the staple of low-brow comedy: flatulance. And if you didn't think that was enough Stubbs can hop in certain vehicles and cruise around areas of the town.

I thought the game lacked a bit in the story telling department, but I also acknowledge the fact that the main character is a zombie, it might be a bit difficult to assemble a top-notch story based on this. The only other down side is the zombie mayhem doesn't quite last as much as I had wanted it to in each level... but then again I would have been happy just staying in the first levels and eating the respwaning people for hours on end so that gripe may be overstated.

Overall the game proves challenging enough and is one of the most fun (in that mindless kind of way) games out there. I would give the game 4.5 stars overall, but I am rounding up for originality. With the great replayability and decent pricing this is a game you should definitely pick up, especially if the whole zombie brain-eating premise combined with a great amount of humor appeals to you.

Stubbs the Zombie:
1. The game installed on my PC with no headaches, hassles, nor spyware.
2. The game is easy to learn and fun to play (pure zombie goodness!). You run around and chomp brains, turn other people into zombies and use "special" zombie powers.
3. Unlike Halflife 2 and Sin Emergence, I actually OWN the game, I don't need to ask the developers for permission every time I want to play it.

For reason #3 alone, this game is worth your $$.

This game uses the invasive Starforce drivers. This form of copy protection causes a lot of issues on your computer including shutting down CD/DVD drives and often times barring you from a game you legitimately own. I purchased this game and had multiple issues related to the driver. It locked me from playing and would reset my computer at boot up. Finally managed in Safe Mode to figure out what was causing it and deleted the stupid thing. WASTE OF MONEY. Legitimate game companies don't need to resort to cheap tricks like that.

Original gameplay, amusing story, and lots and lots of zombies... Do your eally need anything else?

This isn't a deep game. Nor is it meant to play with your children. The violence is over the top and there's a fair amont of crude dialog. But the atmosphere, retro-future, seems perfect for a zombie story and there are times when the jokes make me laugh out loud. You shamble, eat people's brains, throw "gut grenades" and possess people with your detachable hand. If it's too hard or too easy, you can ajust the difficulty accordingly, increasing or decreasing the effectiveness of your human opponents. Mostly, I play it for the humor and the silly zombie schtick, things that could possibly get old after enough hours of game play. But I've also found that as you move through the game there are enough variences and challenges in the game play to keep me shuffling forward.

The game plays like a console game, one save point, automatic saves at various checkpoints, and no manual saves without exiting the game, but there are plenty of checkpoints and I haven't really been frustrated by scheme yet, though there was a level I had to restart because the save point came at a particularly bad time.

All in all, it was probably not worth the ~$50 a new game usually costs, but at $15 or less, it's a definite bargain for your own personal zombie hoard.

First off, I want to say that I received a CD ROM version and not the DVD version of the game. I was mildly disappointed about that, but pricing is the same, so no great loss.
The game installed fine. No glitches during install.
There is a tutorial to help you get started and during the game when something new is introduced, little popups help you learn how to use the new item. Game play is easy with keyboard and mouse commands.
I did have to download a new video driver even though the game said my system met the requirements for the game. At one point during the game, only the background items showed. Anything that moved ie: zombie, humans, vehicles were invisible. Yet I could play them I just couldn't see them. Downloading the updated video driver took care of that issue.
I only ranked the game 4 stars as it's just basically the same kind of thing over and over. But it is fun being a zombie and killing humans instead of the usual other way around. So a nice twist.

Currently unable to review as my computer with XP is not working. Wish we could have it for PS3 or Windows 7

This is not a game kids should play.
I must say, Bud the Chud was one of the funniest Zombie Comedies ever produced for the cinema, and that is why I bought this game.
The idea that a zombie would still be out running around and trying to run things. Stubbs is nuts.

This game is very fun. It's however to short. Eating breains is a very fun stuff (at least on this ame :). It is the first game were I hear about YOU being a zombie! Sounds ridiculous, but it's very fun. The system reqirements are a little big to high, but for this days it is OK.

I really do enjoy the zombie genre, and I really didn't have high hopes for this game, but even my low expectations weren't really met. This game is more about slapstick comedy than it is about zombies.

The plot is pretty bare, but workable. The enemies that you fight are pretty well balanced against your own abilities. However, since you're a zombie, you really aren't supposed to be that smart and figure out how to use weapons. So the game designers decided to give you some special bio-weapons: like noxious fart gas. And a head that you can use as a bowling ball and it explodes and re-grows as much as you like. And an arm that you can detach and control and use it to take control of people, and that too regrows as much as you like. Call me crazy, but regrowing heads seem a little too far-fetched, even for zombies.

And then there were a few highly questionable "boss" levels. A dance-off? Peeing in a resevoir for two minutes? Ugh. Perhaps a nine-year-old would find this stuff more enthralling, but since it's an M-rated game I don't think many will (or should) be playing it.

For all of the money that they spent on hiring semi-famous bands to do remakes of classic 50's songs, the songs were pretty absent throughout the entire game. As far as I can tell, the only times you hear them is during the opening options screen. What a waste.

Most of the game is spent running (lumbering) up to someone that is shooting at you, slapping them around for a few times until they get faint, and then eating their brains. Then when your health gets low you run and hide in a corner somewhere until you're okay again and you repeat the process. It got really monotonous about three-quarters of the way through. I found the cheat codes for invincibility just so I could get the game over with as soon as possible.

Overall, I understand the different problems the designers had in coming up with an entertaining take on being a zombie (being a zombie would be really boring, if you think about it) but I felt that they should have seriously toned-down the ridiculousness, saved money on the indie bands that weren't really used, and focused on gameplay that centered around building a sizeable zombie army and taking over suburbia. If you can rent this game, do so, but don't waste the money on a purchase.
