Amy O'Brien has written a book with heart, courage and wit. Writing from her own life experiences, and her many personal interviews, some of which are heartbreaking, along with some solid research, Amy leads us on a journey of self empowerment in a way that stands side by side with the best of the best in the self help field. "Stuck With Mr. Wrong?" delivers good sound counsel around what it means to have lost a sense of who you are, and then finding your "true self" once again,. Step by step Amy takes us from being "stuck" to finding our voice again, restoring our self worth, and delving deep into that place where we intuitively know what we need to do, and bravely taking those first steps that lead us "home".

Amy cleverly uses a backdrop of movies and their characters, fairy tales with their many stories of "happily ever after" along with archetypes moving in and out of their "light" and "shadowy aspects portraying how unrealistic expectations can be perceived, and played out in relationships by both men and women. Amy's words move effortlessly injecting humor around the reality of life with the opposite sex, and at other times we can read and feel the genuine pain and heartbreak of those who may be feeling imprisoned by their own "undoing", or choices that were made in haste, under pressure, without discernemtnt or many times unconsciously without thought.

Every once in awhile a book will capture your attention and help you to see and understand that relationships can be "tricky", challenging and complicated, but they can also be places of transformation and growth. It about learning lessons from one another and becoming the best you can be in a relationship with another human being.

You don't have to be stuck with Mr. Wrong (you may even be enjoying life with Mr. Right) to still enjoy this engaging and empowering read from Ms. O'Brien. The premise is clever - look at yourself and your actions (or non-actions) as if you were an audience member watching yourself (the heroine) in a movie. Would the audience pull for you, would they agree with what you (the heroine) were saying or doing in a given situation or would they be groaning and moaning at the screen - "no don't do it, stand up for yourself, don't let him get away with that"... Looking at your life and your actions through this lens is a fun and insightful exercise - one Ms. O'Brien discovered when she was stuck in her own Mr. Wrong relationship and that she walks us through with humor and compassion, step by step, on a real journey to becoming the true star of your own life story. A great read for singles, couples and those in-between...

Amy O'Brien thoroughly entertained me with her book Stuck with Mr. Wrong. This book is loaded with tons of practical advice, sprinkled with poignant stories, and excellent references to relevant movies - it was so compelling I couldn't put it down. I had the book finished in a weekend. Amy is a captivating writer, and I would recommend any woman to read this book who is looking to improve her choice in men. You will be so pleased you chose to read this book.
