5.0 out of 5 stars Sexual Perfection
This is, perhaps, the most flawless and satisfying piece of modern romance fiction on the market today. Delinsky is a marvel who takes us on an emotional and passionate ride through lust and love. She spices up even the most mundane suburban life. Jenna's "Stud" is a man in every sense of the word. This novel is jucier than prime rib.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bad premise from a good writer.
When Jenna McCue decided to have a baby, she needed a sperm donor. Her best friend's brother seemed perfect. Spencer Smith was handsome, intelligent, and rarely in town. He agreed to be the donor, with one change. Spencer would give his sperm the old-fashioned way, through sex. Suddenly, a business deal to have a baby becomes very personal.

The coldbloodedness...

4.0 out of 5 stars an enjoyable, quick one-sitting read, August 21, 2005
This review is from: Stud (Mass Market Paperback)
It's a very sweet, cute story about falling in love with your best friend's older brother from Jenna's perspective, or your little sister's best friend from Spence's perspective. From the product description and reviews I've read, I expected to be very chauvinistic and read like an infertility guidebpook or a sex manual, but it wasn't like that at all. What moved me was the genuine affection and respect they showed each other as this conflict played itself out. And they taught each other valuable and much-needed lessons about life. Spence learned to settle down and life isn't all about ambitious adventures, and Jenna learned to let fun and love in and that life isn't all about business.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful!, August 7, 2007
I LOVE this book. My *only* complaint is that the book is too short. I love the premise, I love the plot progression, I love the characters, I love the chemistry...I love it all. I just wish it were about 150 pages longer! I want to see the relationship develop and I want to see the baby!

This is a fairy tale. It's a feel-good story about falling in love and finding what you really want in life, and the baby element only adds to the charm. It's a light read that will leave you smiling. A great beach book or "in-between" read.

Read this. You won't be sorry. This is my first Delinsky read and a definite keeper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved This = I wish I could find a man like Spencer Smith, October 20, 2001
This review is from: Stud (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the first book I read from the author.. Loved it - i will ahve to read more. I love adventurous men - so Spencer to me was the perfect male character. I wish I could find a "real Life" Spencer. The only thing that I wish the author did not leave out was the birth of the baby. I felt cheated that I didn't get to find out if they had a boy or a girl. I didn't think that was fair. If she hadn't left that out I would have felt more satisfied at the end and this would have received a 5 star rating instead.

He agreed to be the donor, with one change. Spencer would give his sperm the old-fashioned way, through sex. Suddenly, a business deal to have a baby becomes very personal.

The coldbloodedness of the premise made it hard to get into the story. Spencer is immature and Jenna is a bit self-absorbed. If this was any other genre, that characterization would be acceptable. In a romance, it's important that your hero and heroine are likeable or become so during the course of the story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but could be better, April 24, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Stud (Mass Market Paperback)
This is my first Delinsky book, and I must say this is not gonna be my last!

Love the story, especially when the quest for a baby becomes a personal issue (instead of artificial insemination, it's 'sexual intercourse or nothing', according to the main hero).

The thing is, I find it hard to really like Spencer Smith as a man. For a 41-yr-old widely traveled, experienced man, he sure behaves like someone in his 20s. If not because of the age, Spencer is just fine, but since he's way beyond his 30s, he should BEHAVE like one. They way he talks, the way he thinks - he seems immature, and, considering this, I wonder why Jenna McCue really wants HIM to be the 'sperm donor' when she could've had her pick of OTHER men with MORE attributes.

So, that's why I give this only 4 stars. Otherwise, the story is very entertaining.

1st book for me by Ms. Delinsky; not my last. Really enjoyed it. I too was disappointed she left out the important part, the birth. Otherwise, a gem.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Stud Indeed, July 19, 2007
Somehow this novel showed up in a box of books that I bought at a yard sale. I do not remember ever seeing this book before I found it in the box. That was a lucky find for me. I do not read "porn", or "hard erotica", and when I saw the name, I was concerned it may be Too hot for me. I thought "oh, Dear", but when I looked through the book my heart melted for the heroine. This book has Hot intimacy, but it is not erotica. As a mother who dearly loves children I could understand Jenna's desire for a child. I can also understand wanting the best man to father her child. I enjoyed this book.(Possible Spoiler) I am a sucker for happy endings, and I found the conclusion of this story to be perfect. The physical attraction was there, and how the couple work out the logistics of conception time is funny, heart warming, and of course, sexy. This is a great beach read, or a fun way to pass time on a plane. I enjoyed this book, and I'm glad I "found" it! ;>)
