5.0 out of 5 stars The classic Meatmen album - Tesco Vee is a twisted genius
You must have this album in your punk collection! It pulls together the classic Meatmen album ("We're the Meatmen . . . And you...!") with outakes, singles and miscellaneous stuff (some of it not so essential). The Meatmen are the most hysterical hardcore band to come out of the 80's. They took Ramones-like simplicity and stupidity to the next level - pure genius...

3.0 out of 5 stars Radio and the Meatmen
This release contains all the songs off their first LP and crippled children EP.Meatmen were the most profane punk band to surface from the earliest 80's.The Band was notorious for using explicit language and adult themes expressed by their music. The music is raw and fast, but the studio releases lacked good quality sound. Still this beats listening to mainstream radio...

The first time my friends and I listened to tracks like "Mr. Tapeworm" and "Becoming a Man," we were rolling on the floor laughing. Nobody went to more outrageous lengths of political incorrectness than Tesco Vee.

As an aside, I read somewhere that 'ol Tesco was/is a school teacher someplace. Can you imagine that?!? If Tipper and Hillary ever found out, they'd flip their collective wigs!

Like them or not, this band was important to the East Coast early 80s punk scene. Christ, even the Misfits were into the Meatmen! The ability to find fans in Glenn Danzig and recruit members from a defunct Minor Threat surely shows some sort of greatness. True, this CD may not be the high caliber material of other bands in the same scene, but that is what is so awesome about the Meatmen - the ability to convey just as much with half the effort.. This CD shows the progression from early trash through Tesco's unexplainably catchy Dutch Hercules EP.. If you are tired of every band sounding the same and saying nothing, this CD will be a huge relief.

Absolutely essential scat-punk for high-brow intellectuals. How could anyone not love this classic material? Just look at the song titles! Plus cover-art that would give any regular He-Man a throbbing bulge in his pants!

Any one who gives this cd 1 star (music fan) is an ugly woman. This cd is pure energy and you just dont see that any more. The Meatmen were an extreme band that didn't follow the rules of music making. How refreshing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rare gem in a sea of crap, October 3, 2004
This review is from: Stud Powercock: Touch & Go Years (Audio CD)
The meatmen...along with the dead kenedys, milkmen, ramones...and a small handful of others are the only true punk rockers ever. EVER! This album is probably one of the biggest influences in who I am today. A real big jerk. With brilliant and marvelous classics such as "Mr. Tape Worm, Crippled Children Suck, French People Suck, Camel Jockeys Suck, Tooling for anus, The Meat Men Stomp, Dance to the music(Yes, it's a cover)and tons and tons and tons of others...you'll be begging for more. And saying that I assume you're just as cynical, hateful, sadistic, maniacal, and sin drenched as myself. Tesco Vee is my hero. I hope he finds the 6-demon bag and becomes...like a dream.

4.0 out of 5 stars The meatmen or How Tesco Vee changed My view on Life, February 1, 2000

Punk rock, like every other genre has its dribble. There are numerous albums it could do without. I'm proud to say that the Meatmen's "Stud Powercock:The Touch and Go Years 81-84" is not one of those albums. The Meatmen crashed onto the scene in the early 1980's. It's hard to believe they were part of the DC scene which consisted of Teen Idles, Minor Threat (two members of which would go on to join the meatmen), Bad Brains and others, because they're all about the essence of not caring and being as politically incorrect as possible. Led by frontman Tesco Vee, the Meatmen leave no stone unturned,no group unoffended. Songs like "One Down Three to Go" which praised the death of John Lennon, "Im glad Im not a girl" and "Lesbian Death Dirge" are ready to offend any woman and of course numerous other Meat-tracks that would make your mother keel over in agony. And of course songs like "orgy of one" made me realize that I wasnt alone in my life as a lonely teenage boy. The meatmen added the sense of humor and rawness that i needed to help me go on and face each day. 39 tracks of pure offensive power! Let's just put it this way, I was preparing to hang out with a fine young lady one nite and a friend of mine said, "Whatever you do, dont play the Meatmen". What more can I say.

Songs like mr.tapeworm,im glad im not a girl, crippled children suck, lesbian death dirge, dumping ground and middle aged youth are absolute classics. the cd may not be the best produced and sounds a little like a demo tape, but every song has a catchy riff and just makes you want to keep listening. the songs are all really diferent and ALL of them are good. i would definely recomend this cd. as a matter of fact THIS CD RULES!!

4.0 out of 5 stars they're the meatmen..., March 19, 2002

and this is the only essential meatmen album in my opinion and can be a bit strenous sometimes because of repetition of certain songs...it does have some classic immature adolescent anthems and is most definately NOT for the 'politically-correct' crowd! you gotta love how tesco hates everyone and everything for no apparent reason...this is stuff of legend. you also get a few reproductions of tesco's comic from the original touch & go zine he ran. this will save you a lot of money if you buy this for the comics rather than track down the original zines.
