Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Drawing on Dr. Weber's widely acknowledged expertise in authentic assessment, this book helps make assessment more relevant to students and their world by showing how teachers can assess students' genuine abilities while motivating their development. This unique approach combines student interest and abilities and curriculum goals within authentic assessment activities. Readers will find practical strategies and hands-on activities as well as the most current learning theories and assessment alternatives based on concepts of multiple intelligence. The practical assessment tools presented can be adapted to multiple ways of assessing student abilities in every discipline.

Major sections present (I) collaborative assessment practices, (II) authentic assessment practices, including both portfolios and assessment in traditional settings, and (III) expanded assessment activities, including discussions of active learning, myths about traditional testing, and communicating students' progress toward specific goals. For educators and others interested in better ways to assess students' abilities and progress

More About the Author

How do you accomplish things never before accomplished by using parts of the brain never before used? It 's interesting to me that when we know even basics about our brains, we can use far more intelligence in our daily lives. Many years ago as a secondary school and university faculty I saw folks walk into classes with obvious smarts that were rarely called upon. For a lifetime I've been a revolutionary to help people access hidden and unused intelligences.

To that end I work with global leaders in many cultures and across diverse fields. For leaders I facilitate in countries, I find myself asking "what-if" and "where-to-from-here" kinds of questions? Then with the brain in mind, we build doable strategies together. I especially enjoy a lifetime of integrated studies (and living for extensive people multiple cultures) that allow me to create leadership tools from magnificent brain facts in neuro and cognitive sciences.

Responses and lessons learned over the past 35 years of renewal work, became the Mita manifesto for Renewal-detailed at http://www.brainleadersandlearners.com/change/mita-brain-manifesto/ .
Fifteen years ago - I brought Dr. Robyn McMaster on board - the best move ever made here at the Mita International Brain Center http://mitaleadership.com/ .

Mita methods have been proven at the PhD level in several countries and several fields. They have offered people and organizations new approaches for higher motivation and achievement. These brainpower tools are used online, and in brick and mortar settings. Leadership with Mita uses Arts, Sciences and cultural differences to accomplish things never before accomplished by using parts of the brain never before used.

Book Dr. Ellen Weber to Lead your Leaders into new discussions with revolutionary outcomes - using their own brainpower to facilitate doable rejuvenation tools at work.
