I first purchased this edition of Scripture back in middle school ten years ago for Bible class. It has been with my and has become my favorite edition of God's Word. I started reading a long time ago--the gospels, Revelation, Acts, and so on. I have found (and still find) the introductions and blue clipping-like notes very helpful. This book also includes character profiles and an index to whatever subject you want to look up. I highly recommend reading this book and the NIV translation. If you want opulence you can understand, stick with this edition. Read Scripture, get involved in church, and have fun! No excuses!

This Bible has several features I love- lots of interesting facts and explanations added that are not controversial theologically but good solid teaching to aid the learning reader along with a chapter-by-chapter check-off list for every book in the front of the Bible that helped me to read through the entire Bible for the first time. This Bible helped me grow as a Christian through personal reading and study.
