5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Study Bible, March 14, 2003
By
Kyle (Tampa, Florida, USA) - See all my reviews
I would rate this book 5 stars. The notes (written by Philip Yancey and Tim Stafford) are very understandable to students (anywhere from middle-school up). The notes within the text relate the scripture to things younger students deal with, but things a lot of adults deal with, too. The character sketches contained within the pages are excellent, well thought out, and well written. If you want to understand and apply the Word of God well, this Bible is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uphold the Truth of God, February 12, 2003

This review is from: NIV Student Bible, Revised Edition (New International Version) (Paperback)
Regardless of some people who make airy arguments about what bible to choose, I chose this.

I was born and convent-bred Catholic, but I truly haven't read the fullness of God's words. I was not encouraged to do so.
Then I met some Christians who believe in Jesus and uphold the God-breathed word of God. Now, I can see things learly.

This book transformed my life. Changing the inner me to seeking more about Jesus. It made me understood the characters in the old and in the new testament.

Do not let anyone fool or confuse you. If the the Word of god can make you walk into the light of his path, then seek him through his words.

This book is absolutely great for students like me who seeks the truth. The bible is inspired by God. It answers all questions of life. All you have to do is open your heart and find it.

May our hearts and mind open to His infinite wisdom. May we not depend on our own limited and passing knowledge and understanding. May we put our faith in Jesus alone as it is written in the Scriptures. May he follow His examples and appear blameless before the Heavenly father. May peace, love, joy, faith and hope fill our every step on this world.

"Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God." Ephesians 6:17

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm a New Christian, November 15, 2003

This review is from: NIV Student Bible, Revised Edition (New International Version) (Paperback)
Hi! I'm a new Christian and a foriegner. When I read this bible with its short description and easy-to understand English, I began to enjoy reading the Word of God. This made me yearn to learn morae and be part of a Christian community.

I believe that it doesnt matter whether the bible is King James (too-difficult English) or New Version, it must convey the message of Christ. Besides we are not saved by how many times and how accurate the bible, even Satan reads it as shown when he was tempting Jesus. Its alla bout love, faith and hope in Lord Jesus. We simply understand Him more by reading His words and obeying His commands. That's the challenge.

I'd give this book a five star because of its presentation, easy-to read English and the various description how and what a Jewish culture means. Sometimes we base the Scriture on ouw own understanding , experience and culture. We forget that Jesus is a Jew and its a good insight what His culture then and how they are made different amoingst all nations.

:)
