Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

From Adam and Eve to David the King to Paul the apostle, well-known and lesser-known figures gain new significance as you discover their place in the grand narrative of the Bible. You’ll also take in the astonishing miracles and bewildering imagery of Scriptures. Moses parting the Red Sea, Ezekiel’s valley of dry bones, Daniel in the lions’ den, Jesus walking on water, the seven-headed dragon of Revelation . . . the Bible is anything but boring or predictable. But it is understandable, with truths for today that can shape the course of the choices you make, the relationships you cultivate, and the life you live.

Above all, the Bible points to Jesus Christ. On your "Guided Tour," you will meet him in all his humanity and all his divine glory. From the manger to the cross to the right hand of God, the NIV Student Bible lets you follow in the footsteps of Jesus. You will see how the Old Testament prepared his way. And you will see how in the New Testament, he is the Way to an eternal relationship with God and a life filled with purpose.

· Guided Tour of the Bible. · 3-Track Reading Plan lets you read at your own pace. · Highlights and Insights explain difficult verses, point out important facts and encourage reflection. · Book Introductions and Overviews. · Updated Subject Guide points to the Bible’s message on topics of interest. · 100 People You Should Know gives insight into the lives and faith of important Biblical people. · Updated Glossary of Non-Biblical People and Places.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great study Bible, March 2, 2003
This review is from: NIV Student Bible, Revised (Hardcover)
This is a wonderful Study Bible. The scripture translation is very understandable.. for those who can't really get into the thees, thous, and thines, this is for you. Passages are also indexed by topic... if you need to find a scripture on lust, faith, love, whatever, the index is helpful.

At the beginning of each book in this Bible, it gives you a background / history, as well as how you should read the book.

Also, it has 3 reading plans so that you can get to know the Bible on a regular basis... I really cannot express how much I love this Bible.. It is an awesome thing.

Also included are:
Well known biblical events, Noteable psalms, an outline of old testament history, a map index, and other goodies.

If you are a newcomer to Christianity or a have been keeping the faith for years, this Bible is perfect for all. I am 22, and out of all Bibles I have ever purchased, this is the one I was able to comprehend most. I definitely recommend this.

God bless.

This is one great student Bible out there. As a youth worker in my church we encourage our youth to read and study there Bibles. This is a great youth oreinted Bible. There is a reading track plan that helps youth study there Bible. I have one my self (the revised that I am reviewing and the one before it). This is also highly recommended by the Christian rock group NEWSBOYS. There are many daily thoughts that are in this Bible by many wonderful Bible teachers. I highly recommend it. GOD BLESS

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone should have a 'Student' Bible!!!, January 16, 2006
By
I've tried reading the Living Bible before because it's put in plain English, but it was such a depressing awful 'story', that I quit reading it. This student bible has been a big help in getting me through the bible, mainly using the 'guided tour', which I usually end up reading those parts and wanting to know more about the story and reading more of the bible! Never being one to read a bible, that's really something for me, and I actually look forward to reading it. I'm reading the Psalms right now though, and I'm reading them one by one. It helps to be able to understand the wording of the passages. The additional text boxes with info stashed all throughout is really handy and full of really interesting information I think anyone would find neat to know.
I got a brand new 'normal' bible for Christmas and it's still sitting in it's box...I don't want a different bible!! (Oh, and I'm 33!)
