5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Buy !!!!
If you want to pass your Calculus class, then buy the solution manual to the textbook. That seems like common sense but some students question whether or not they need it, or would rather pocket the extra $30. Big mistake, even if you are a math genius, which I'm not and never will be. This book not only shows you the answers to the odd problems but it goes through each...

2.0 out of 5 stars *Mostly* helpful - but only for included problems.
This was helpful, and by the grace of it, I got through Cal2 and Cal3. The biggest thing is that it only includes solutions for ODD problems. This wouldn't be a problem normally, but Stewart's 'Essential' Calculus is what's called a 'concise' textbook. In other words, many concepts, and their related solution strategies, are only addressed ONCE in the homework...

This is a must have if you are using Stewart's Calculus book. Shows you step by step how to solve the problems. FYI only the odd problems are shown which can be frustrating as the even problems tend to be more challenging.

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as a professor., August 22, 2009
This review is from: Student Solutions Manual for Stewart's Essential Calculus: Early Transcendentals (Paperback)
After having completed Calculus I, I found that there were still some gaps in my knowledge, some unanswered questions about some of the homework problems in the textbook. I consider this solutions manual one of the best investments I've ever made, for the money. It's like having a professor or tutor handy whenever you can't figure out how to do a problem. It cleared up the unanswered questions I had from Calculus I, and will be an invaluable aid for upcoming classes. I highly recommend it.

The condition of the book was better than I imagined. Slight dog earing, but other than that it was in stellar shape. As usual, all this vendor was just like the rest: Outstanding. Thanks again for the great service Amazon!

2.0 out of 5 stars *Mostly* helpful - but only for included problems., January 31, 2012

This review is from: Student Solutions Manual for Stewart's Essential Calculus: Early Transcendentals (Paperback)
This was helpful, and by the grace of it, I got through Cal2 and Cal3. The biggest thing is that it only includes solutions for ODD problems. This wouldn't be a problem normally, but Stewart's 'Essential' Calculus is what's called a 'concise' textbook. In other words, many concepts, and their related solution strategies, are only addressed ONCE in the homework problems. Unfortunately, often in EVEN problems. Since the textbook ALSO has only solutions to ODD problems, this strategy is a FAIL. I understand the why (lazy professors), but it doesn't really help a student trying to learn.

That said, in many cases, the solution manual was *also* inadequately written, forcing you to reference similar, simpler problems to properly understand the whole solution.

If there existed (that I could find) a solution manual that had ALL the problems included, I certainly would have paid more for it, more importantly, I would have LEARNED more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Necessary, September 2, 2011
This review is from: Student Solutions Manual for Stewart's Essential Calculus: Early Transcendentals (Paperback)
Essential Calculus: Early Transcendentals HAS NO ANSWERS IN THE BACK OF THE BOOK! Therefore if you are using that text for your calculus class, you must, must get the solutions manual. This book is the equivalent of the back of the book answers in most regular textbooks but it also has information on how to arrive at those answers which makes it more useful. So why do I call it equivalent? Simple, I have never used or needed a solutions manual before and the only reason I bought this book was because it has the answers to odd problems in it, and that is something I use all the time. In all my other classes I could go to the back of the book for this information but like I said Essential Calc does not have that information there. For me it is crucial to have those answers simply to ensure that my understanding of concepts is accurate, and the only way to do that was to buy this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Serves its purpose, June 2, 2011

This review is from: Student Solutions Manual for Stewart's Essential Calculus: Early Transcendentals (Paperback)
This solutions manual serves its purpose: to show you how the problems are done. However, if you want a manual that helps you solve the textbook problems, this is not for you. Many steps are omitted, so you will be lost unless you more or less know how to solve the problem. With that being said, I still recommend this book for anyone using Stewart's Essential Calculus: Early Transcendentals for calculus.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for Any Calculus Student, January 26, 2009
By
This review is from: Student Solutions Manual for Stewart's Essential Calculus: Early Transcendentals (Paperback)
This solutions manual is a great asset for any Calculus student. The odd-numbered problems for each section and chapter review are completely worked out and the logic for each step is explained. Unfortunately, I can't give this guide five stars because it only includes solutions for the odd-numbered exercises. However, that aside, I think that this is an excellent buy for any Calculus student, especially one new to the subject.
