5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, one of the best books to study from for Foundations of Reading MTEL
Do not waste your money on Foundations of Reading Study guides. This help me understand different key concepts that Fountas and Pinnel over indulged in their book. This book is simple, easy to read, focus on strategies, realistic classroom scenarios, and so on and so forth. 3.0 out of 5 stars Good Reference Book
I have used this book in my reading classes for graduates. It has become an excellent tool in my classroom as well. I have lent it to several teachers to use when questions concerning phonics or methods arrive. It's an excellent resource book to keep close at hand in the classroom.

Do not waste your money on Foundations of Reading Study guides. This help me understand different key concepts that Fountas and Pinnel over indulged in their book. This book is simple, easy to read, focus on strategies, realistic classroom scenarios, and so on and so forth. In the back of the book it gave a whole section on teaching stragegies that can be used as a reference guide. This came to me from several friends who had recommended the book to me to help me study after we have the Fountas and Pinnel book, Guiding Readers and Writers. I hope this helps.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well Organized Book, September 7, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is very well laid out. All of the main points are clear and there are strong summaries. The pictures could have been more attractive, which is trivial. The wording was such that the book was boring, but why should we expect a textbook to be a novel?

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Introductory to Teaching Reading, August 12, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The book is a great introductory to teaching reading, and provides some decent examples through scenarios and graphics. The quizzes at the end of each chapter were okay, but the biggest plus for the book is that it comes with a CD that shows videos of teachers either teaching or demonstrating concepts that are covered in the book.

This book may not help those who want detailed information about specific reading concepts or methods, but if someone wants a decent, engaging book that will help point them in the right direction, then I suggest this book to those people.
